Data centers create careers. Read more about digital infrastructure's blue-collar jobs boom:
Compass Datacenters CEO Chris Crosby fires back at critics who say data centers don't create real jobs, pointing to the hundreds of electricians, mechanics and technicians working at the company's 2.6-million-square-foot campus in Red Oak, Texas.
The site includes 10 data center buildings, a Schneider Electric manufacturing facility and a $12.6 million workforce training center built with Texas State Technical College. Roughly 600 Compass employees and 300 Schneider workers are on-site, with thousands of construction workers cycling through since 2019.
Crosby says the company still can't hire fast enough — and that the debate over data centers too often ignores the blue-collar workforce powering the AI boom from the ground up.

Support for data centers is real. So are the questions and concerns. But political ad data show this is not “the data center election.”
In an analysis of the topics mentioned in 1.42 million political ad spots in ten high-profile races for Governor and U.S. Senate, corruption and personal attacks appear in 32%, affordability in 25%, and health care and drug prices in 19%. Data centers? Just 5%.

Blocking a data center to stop AI also hits a small business’s payroll, a school’s remote learning platform, & a family’s FaceTime call, because the same facilities run them all.
Policy born from AI pessimism would disrupt all of the everyday services Americans depend on.
