It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Bobby Weir. We send him off the way he sent so many of us on our way: with a farewell that isn’t an ending, but a blessing. A reward for a life worth livin'. bobweir.net/bobby/

Thank you, @BillieJeanKing , for the energy and passion you’ve displayed to make sport and our world one of transcendence for all! Happy birthday!!!
I am 82 years young today, and feeling so grateful.
This past year has made me reflect on the gift of this life.
Thank you to each person who has been part of this incredible journey: my family, friends, teammates, colleagues, and the countless people who inspire me daily. And most especially, Ilana, my partner in all things.
I’ve spent my life believing in the power of sport to change the world. I’m as energized as ever to keep striving for equality, inclusion, and opportunity for all.
Here’s to more learning and more listening, and of course, more joy along the way.
Let's go, 82. I'm ready for you.

NBA legends declare Larry Bird the 🤴 of trash talk. Yet, as a #BrainGame coach, I declare LB the 🤴 of mental rehearsal bc he’d say what he was going to do, which primed his mind and muscles, and then went and did it. See B Scott around the 3:45 mark.
I wonder if Coach Pitino had any of these halftime speeches while at @PCAthletics bball?!?
Brain Game Coach perspective: Coach P is right!! When adversity hits and hits hard, what you say to yourself and how you train will help you rise above!
Clip from Vice Sports of Rick Pitino at halftime of the St. John's game at Providence. #sjubb was down big, and rallied to win.
Wonderful application example of mind-muscle, brain-body connection in priming an individual for performance. Well said @DanAbrahams77 !!!
Coaches: warm players up mentally before or after you help them do a physical warm-up.
How?
Ask them questions...
You can make these questions super simple (what - see picture below)
You can make these questions a little more complicated (how - see picture below)
Then what?
Ask players to picture their answers for 30 seconds
By doing so you're helping them run an inner movie that helps them feel a greater sense of readiness for training
Next, get them sharing their answers with team mates for 30 seconds. This drives communication and teamwork
What an insightful article about an elite human being pivoting her coaching behaviors while staying true to her personal and program values. Coach @dawnstaley , you got a fan in me!! Go @GamecockWBB !!! apple.news/Av_t1wwPjTQCfA6tm…

Anxiety doesn’t come from simply thinking about the future - it comes from trying to control it.
Let go, and you'll find your power in the present.

As @jalenbrunson1 and his family says and believes, “The magic is in the work.”
Returning to basics in any situation (e.g., returning from injury or progressing to the next level of play) can increase confidence, focus, and motivation. As @KenRavizza1 and @MaddHalos taught the @Cubs , “Do simple better.”
Tools for coaches…
Scaffolding (learning supports)
Variability
Randomness
To help a player low on confidence you might scaffold an activity by stripping away information and present them with an easy-to-accomplish task…
And then start to strip away scaffolds adding in variability and randomness to make the activity higher in specificity (it contains more of the informational sources in the actual game)…

Sacrificing translates to prioritizing your time around what you want from life.
“If you go to class & you do average work, you get a C, that’s why it’s called average. If you want a B, you have to do more work & if you want an A you have to do even more work. You have to give up stuff, you have to sacrifice.”

Congratulations to a mentor and dear friend, Amy! You help everyone around you a better player or coach and, more importantly, person by your persistent work towards excellence in sport and life!!! @CHSvarsoccer @Go_Carondelet @SSU_Alumni @SonomaSeawolves
Wonderful thoughts by the Black Momba that translates well to the Finnish concept of SISU
“I just try to stay still…”
The late, great Kobe Bryant draws out his strategy to deal with unhelpful emotion. A sophisticated approach to a complex problem!
His thoughts, emotions, feelings…whispering their distractions as he competes…but he refuses to comply…he refuses to be controlled by emotion…
He simply accepts their presence…and makes a choice!
But this is a hard choice, or at least, it’s hard to get into a position to make a choice. It takes skills and competencies, it takes self-awareness and flexibility of attention, and it takes practice and mastery, practice and mastery, practice and mastery.
Elite performance will improve when you accept that wellbeing can be learned by discovering and mastering your emotions connected to your performance.

In this crazy world of baseball and Mental Performance, it’s nice to come back to the basics and simplicity. No one did basics and simplicity better than @KenRavizza1 🐐 🐐
