Thank you @JustStop_Oil. I cannot imagine how hard it must be to put yourself out there in front of jeering crowds - many of whom will one day realise that you are firmly on the right side of history and just trying to protect them, their children and their grandchildren. 💚
📢 A Just Stop Oil spokesperson said:
“Cricket is an important part of our national heritage, but how can we enjoy the Ashes when much of the cricketing world is becoming unfit for humans to live in? We can no longer afford to distract ourselves when the sports we play, the food we eat, and the culture we cherish is at risk.
“It’s time for cricket lovers and all those who understand the severity of this situation to get onto the streets and demand action from this illegitimate, criminal government. When our children ask us, ‘What did we do to avert this crisis?’ we better have a good answer.”

Two years ago, Sir Patrick Valance briefed MPs & Lords on the climate crisis. Incredibly, fewer than 5% attended😲
It’s time to repeat it, with attendance obligatory. Here are 3 ideas to make it better: 🧵1/4

This is a war on the world’s remaining wildlife . . . if we don’t address this sort of savagery we will lose everything . Why is the world’s media ignoring this ? Why are the world’s governments ignoring this ? We have to act . Now . @NeptunesPirates

Been a while since I've seen an article with quite so many inaccuracies and unevidenced claims
So, here's a not-so-little thread to debunk some of the things that have been said
Carbon emissions from the airline industry grew by 75% from 1990- 2012 according to the David Suzuki Foundation. “If left unchecked, they could consume quarter of the available carbon budget for limiting temperature rise to 1.5C,” the research group said.

Last week I wrote to the PM with a few questions about his rowback on key Net Zero policies .
Yesterday , I received a reply which states that the PM needs an extra two weeks to respond .
We are in a climate emergency – this delay is unacceptable @10DowningStreet .

I do understand how people find they just can't handle any more bad climate news but...we've reached a point where scientists can't believe the temperatures that we're reaching. Thanks to @ed_hawkins

This week I took short-term decisions to scrap a brighter future and block our country’s progress
This change will:
Keep towns disconnected and under-resourced
Overload our already failing transport
Do nothing for education

They stridered (?) nearly the whole 4km.

Water cannon police brutally seems like an abhorrent and desperate escalation and yet possibly a sign that nonviolent and seriously sacrificing Dutch climate heroes (who are doing it in service for their love of life and future generations) are just about to win their demands.
The Dutch Rebellion continues! 🇳🇱
Water cannons will not stop their resistance 🚿
It will be a tale to tell to all their children.
What will you tell yours?
