We have nationwide rent controls now. This tribunal didn’t just stop a rent rise within a tenancy, it cut the rent to below what had been agreed between the landlord and the tenant at the start of the tenancy based on a judgement of what the property is worth.

‘What it calls a flying car’ The UK attitude which drives so many entrepreneurs abroad. This isn’t just the BBC, it’s ingrained in every institution and into the public psyche. Tall poppy syndrome has likely destroyed trillions in value for the British economy. Pathetic.
Elon Musk's electric car manufacturer, Tesla, has unveiled what it calls a 'flying car'. On #BBCBreakfast Charlie & Naga looked at images of the two-seater Roadster - which has been developed in collaboration with the rocket company, Space X bbc.co.uk/news/topics/c8nq32…

Jensen on why fixing Energy in the UK is crucial: “Without energy there’s no industry, without industry there’s no economic prosperity. With no economic prosperity social problems are hard to fix, national security problems are hard to fix, everything is hard to fix.” YES He said we need to import it or create it here and it could be “fusion, fission, solar, hydro, whatever technology you want to use”
Jensen Huang on why the UK is in a great position in AI: “The UK is in a Goldilocks moment. You have every aspect necessary to take advantage of this new Industrial Revolution. You just have to activate it” He went on say how crucial fixing energy prices are in the UK if we want to take advantage of this moment.

Speaking as someone who loves the north and wants to see its streets and valleys paved with gold, this is good news and absolutely the best decision for Britain. Well done to @dantomlinsonmp and others for pushing this forward.

The hardest part about building in the UK is dealing with long notice periods. I can’t count the number of times we’ve made offers to US candidates over UK candidates just because their notice periods were shorter. Very necessary campaign!
1/ Today we’re launching an open letter calling on the government to end unfair restrictions that stop Britain’s best switching jobs or starting companies. UK AI companies that have raised $5bn agree: our best should be free to start and scale. 🧵 @downingstreet @biztradegovuk

Meridian Cohort Spotlight: Blackmoor Defence Making the invisible visible in contested environments. @BlackmoorLTD is developing technologies across electronic warfare awareness, autonomous-system assurance and maritime security. Its product suite includes SCOUT, a distributed RF and GNSS integrity-awareness system; SALT, designed to introduce uncertainty into the sensing environment used by adversary autonomous systems; and Sea Sentinel, an intelligence and mission-planning platform for monitoring critical maritime infrastructure. Together, they address a growing operational challenge: giving operators greater visibility into the electromagnetic and maritime environments they increasingly depend upon. We're delighted to welcome them to Meridian. meridianbydefenceplc.com/coh… #ALRT

We have NOT built a reservoir since the 1990s. Water shortages KEEP HAPPENING. 28 MILLION Brits are in a DROUGHT. Is the Government acting with urgency? Of course not. Abingdon Reservoir could take ANOTHER 14 YEARS TO BUILD. What a JOKE. ENOUGH. PASS AN ACT. BUILD IT NOW.

This woman is right: Growing up in London means you can afford to do internships, you don’t have to find £1000s for a deposit to rent a flat- even before your first pay check. Hundreds of thousands of grads are cut off from the London job market not because of talent but because they can’t afford it.

Open your wallets gentlemen. The time has come once again to pay for everything but yourself, while getting the worst possible value for money at the same time.
Anyone on around £50k loses £793 a year. A senior nurse. A police sergeant. An experienced teacher. The Prime Minister has mentioned the cost of living repeatedly, so higher tax shouldn't be the approach. @TheSun social care levy calculator: thesun.co.uk/money/39903031/…

This is the result of many bad legacy decisions taken by UKRI hastily and without proper consultation, overseen by a government department that no longer exists. Surely the new @andyburnham government will want to take time to review this.
