We want every child in England to have transport independence and unshackle millions of parents from the grind of the school run. 👇
85% of people in England support active travel and would like to do more. Today, we’ve released new guidance for councils to help them design more school streets, which make walking and cycling to school safer and more enjoyable for all 👩🦽🚲🚶♂️

Good news! Our consultation on extending Cycleway 9 between Brentford & Syon Park shows the vast majority of people think it'll enable more people to cycle in the area.
We're now working with @LBofHounslow to update the plans following your feedback.

And yet £3bn to freeze fuel duty. This is feeble. Such a wasted opportunity for a fresh start from new government.

This is disappointing and ill-advised. You need to think again @EllyBakerAM
I have written today to @MayorofLondon to again raise my concerns about bus stop bypasses and their impact on access to public transport.
I sincerely hope we will see change on the ground - instead of a seemingly unstoppable rollout of inappropriately designed infrastructure.

DfT has just published 2023 road traffic casualty data. We looked at the last 12 years of data for #Cycleway9 section on Chiswick High Rd & the good news is 2023 had the lowest number of casualties over this period. @katherinedunne @Shansview @willnorman

Thanks for coming to Brentford Will. Glad you liked the C9 works, which are ahead of schedule and will be completed this summer thanks to @HounslowHways
The work on London’s Cycleway 9 to Brentford is progressing at pace. The new protected cycle lanes are looking good.
Can’t wait to ride this bit of the route later this year.
Nice work @LBofHounslow highways team & @tfl team

From The FT:
Electric cars are not the future.
In cities at least, e-bikes make more cultural and consumer sense.

If we keep doing the same thing, we’ll keep getting get the same result.
Thankfully @LBofHounslow @katherinedunne @Shansview @GuyLambert have had the vision and courage to start doing things differently here.
The Department for Transport data shows that the growth in car traffic has increased 2106% since 1949.
It's not bike lanes that cause congestion.
