Idiots say they are anti-benefits because nobody should get money they haven't worked for. I agree! So, let's start taxing inheritance at 100%.

🎯 Our building still has the same ACM cladding identified in July 2017. No remediation plan. No scope of works. Unable to sell or remortgage. Still trapped, over 9 years on. @BarrattRedrow is meant to fix this. Why is no one in government holding them to account?

Tory MP Michael Gove let slip the Tories true strategy. He says the party plans to fully embrace its 'Nasty Party' moniker to win back the voters they lost to Reform at the last General Election. So half of what they say is just political theater to claw back votes from Reform.

Helen Whately has spent the past few days promoting a fictional divide between disabled people and “hardworking taxpayers”. First, she shared a carefully constructed £27,400 benefit figure that combines Universal Credit, housing support and enhanced PIP, as though rent and disability-related costs were disposable income. Then she suggested Labour MPs only resisted PIP cuts because claimants outnumbered their majorities. What she didn’t mention was that this applies to a higher proportion of Conservative and Reform MPs, and her own majority is just 1,469. Disabled people are workers, taxpayers, carers and voters. We are not “Benefits Street”, and we will not be reduced to figures on a political spreadsheet. #HelenWhately #PIP #UniversalCredit #DisabilityBenefits #DisabilityRights

If you have 200,000 people waiting for a formal assessment (other than GP sick note), and they get a mere £10,000/yr total income, then you've got your 'billions' (£2bn) of 'unchecked' sickness benefit. Ditto if you've got 200,000 extremely severely and permanently disabled.
Replying to @PolitlcsUK
The findings, part of the 'Welfare Inquiry' launching by The Times tomorrow, means billions of pounds a year in sickness benefits are being paid to claimants whose eligibility has not been checked The Government has welcomed the investigation Story: thetimes.com/uk/welfare-inqu…

This was introduced by Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s. It’s £25 for seven days of actual freezing temperatures, paid automatically to people on the lowest benefits (pensioners, disabled, families with under-5s etc).
Benefit Spongers are being notified by DWP that if temperature drops they will get £25 paid to them every seven days. Why do they need it lying in bed watching day time TV all day. Go to bloody work (50% of them) you bloody spongers.

Reform UK are apparently going to send out an 8 page flyer to £15 million homes. Not that I'm suggesting that you send them back, so they have to pay for the return postage. But if you are, you might find this useful.

Tower Hamlets Council refused the Brick Lane data centre unanimously. Nine resident groups opposed it. The council and the mayor asked for housing instead. The government approved it anyway, through ministerial recovery, with the letter signed on behalf of Angela Rayner. The scheme offers 44 homes, six of them for social rent, and a data centre built around high-frequency trading. Rayner's partner, Sam Tarry, has been senior adviser since May at NorthPoint Strategy, a lobby firm whose sectors include AI, crypto and energy. Its chair is Tory peer Lord Wharton. Its crypto council lists Andreessen Horowitz among its clients. NorthPoint says Tarry helps clients "shape policy agendas". The minister who decides where data centres go shares a household with the adviser to the industry that needs them. 🧵 europeanpowell.substack.com/…

Despite misleading headlines, the government’s review actually found that autism and ADHD do not appear to be becoming more common. Although diagnosis rates are increasing, the prevalence in the population is ‘broadly stable’. We are just diagnosing those who have been missed.

This ep on the election in my area was v good. My stomach sank when I heard this quote. This is literally my experience over a decade and I fear it is happening where I live now. Disrepair & neglect so bad that I can only assume it’s intentional. But our health is at stake.
Great show ahead of tomorrow’s by-election with @michaeljswalker tonight. We talked about so much, not least Camden Labour’s appalling record on housing. It’s even worse than you think! youtu.be/f7o2WM61NVw?is=GSbx…

Using the term "red tape" is a way of implying that regulation has no positive role. In reality regulation is precisely about protecting us and our property. Cut it at your peril.
Grenfell - 72 died from the fire, at least five died by suicide, 11,000 have PTSD, concerns about long term effects of toxicity on residents, 11 firefighters with terminal cancer - plus £1bn spent and rising. That's 'nothing' right?

Cutting red tape costs taxpayers nothing. It’s a common sense solution to get Britain building.
