👀 Good day to stay indoors and away from slot canyons, normally dry washes, slickrock areas, and areas that have burn scars, especially if those burn scars are less than 5 years old.  During storms, don't let anyone sleep in a basement. Flooding can fill a basement in seconds.

UPDATE: Today's Flood Watch has been expanded to include the entire southern two-thirds of Utah. Showers and thunderstorms will become widespread again this afternoon, and any storms that develop will be capable of producing heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding. #utwx

A Flood Watch is in effect for much of southeast Utah and southwest Colorado this evening through Saturday evening. Rainfall rates in excess of in inch per hour and widespread amounts over 1 to 2 inches for this event could lead to excess runoff in many vulnerable areas!
Potential for heavy rain Friday and Saturday. The highest local risk lies across southeast Utah and southwest Colorado where burn scars and other localized flooding is possible. Rock/mud slides may also occur from excess runoff along steep terrain.
