October is Cybersecurity Month If you experience a cybersecurity attack: -Check your credit card and bank statements for unrecognizable charges. -Check your credit reports for any new accounts or loans you didn’t open. -Be alert for emails and social media users that ask for private information. -If you notice strange activity, limit the damage by changing all of your internet account passwords immediately. -Consider turning off the device that has been affected. -Take it to a professional to scan for potential viruses and remove any that they find. Remember: A company will not call you and ask for control of your computer to fix it. This is a common scam. -Let work, school or other system owners know what happened. -Run a security scan on your device to make sure your system is not infected or acting more slowly or inefficiently. -If you find a problem, disconnect your device from the Internet and perform a full system restore.

👀❄️Everyone stay calm, but there's white stuff falling out of the sky! Snow is already beginning to fall at high elevation mountain locations, as seen below from Snowbird webcams! This is just the beginning, however; expect more notable accumulations Monday-Wednesday. #utwx

Utah and SW Wyoming will see a relative lull in precipitation during the early evening. Coverage of rain will increase late this evening, spreading northward overnight. As Rachel's remnants move through Sunday, precipitation will be widespread throughout the day. #utwx #wywx

Keep following our @NWSSaltLakeCity friends, as well as local news for ongoing updates this weekend. Wildfire burn scars can remain hazardous for mudlides for at least 5 years. If you live below a burn scar and it's raining, don't let anyone sleep in the basement. #utwx
Widespread heavy rainfall expected late Saturday through early Monday as the remnants of now Tropical Storm Rachel move through Utah. Many streams, rivers and normally dry washes will be running high, consider alternate recreation plans and never drive through flood water. #utwx

Beaver and Piute counties were hit hard this summer. First by wildfire, then by devastating floods and mudslides that caused an estimated $47 million in damage to critical infrastructure. I'm grateful to President Trump and @fema for approving a major disaster declaration that will help these rural communities rebuild roads, restore water and power systems, and get back on their feet. We're committed to seeing this recovery through.

Tropical moisture will interact with a strong PNW system to bring widespread rain (snow >9,000 feet) to Utah and southwest Wyoming late Saturday through at least Tuesday. This will bring a heightened threat of flash flooding to at least central and southern Utah. #utwx #wywx

Deep tropical moisture across central and southern Utah will result in widespread heavy rainfall resulting in an increased risk for flash flooding through Tuesday. Highest areas of concern include recent burn scars, normally dry washes, & slot canyons. #utwx

Monsoon moisture is bringing a lot of rain to Colorado and Utah, including over areas burned by recent large wildfires. That means flash flooding and mudflows are possible, especially in those burn scar areas. Know your risk of flooding and what to do: ready.gov/floods

The #BroadFire in Weber Canyon was highly active overnight and throughout today's shift on the north side of the fire. Dispatch is receiving many 911 calls to "report a fire on the mountain". We want to remind the public that while the fire is not growing, it is not out. It's still highly visible from Uintah, especially Uintah Highlands, as well as I-84 and South Weber. Please do not call to report the fire. With holiday traffic in the canyon, the highway was starting to back up into Mountain Green and Peterson. Fire managers agreed to open both westbound lanes on I-84 to help keep traffic moving, though the shoulder remains closed. However, drivers still need to remain extremely cautious and alert through the canyon. Don't stop or slow to take photos of the fire or aircraft. Please stay alert so we can avoid another accident in the canyon. There continues to be no fire activity on the south or west sides. Minimal activity on the east side. But visible smoke and flames on the north side. Crews are hiked in and working the fire again today, being supported with bucket drops from helicopters to cool the fire's edge. The fire is still 134 acres and 50% contained at this time. Cause is under investigation.

👀 Good day to stay indoors and away from slot canyons, normally dry washes, slickrock areas, and areas that have burn scars, especially if those burn scars are less than 5 years old.  During storms, don't let anyone sleep in a basement. Flooding can fill a basement in seconds.
UPDATE: Today's Flood Watch has been expanded to include the entire southern two-thirds of Utah. Showers and thunderstorms will become widespread again this afternoon, and any storms that develop will be capable of producing heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding. #utwx
