They don't mean "violence" as in "physical coercion." What they mean is "anything that makes us feel nervous or scared or uncomfortable." Modern women, in the West and outside of the ghetto, have very little exposure to "male violence." This is partly why they're so bad at identifying red flags. They genuinely can't tell the difference between something that makes them uncomfortable and something that's a general threat.
