The low-end severe risk over Oregon is evolving as expected
Today’s severe risk in OR and CA is very similar to the setups that we have found to favor tornadoes in Chile 🇨🇱 w/HSLC

Models depict that #Rafael will enter a pretty hostile environment over the northern Gulf of Mexico this weekend. Strong wind shear and dry air should induce rapid weakening or dissipation before landfall

While Rafael may not make landfall in the U.S., a plume of associated tropical moisture will meet a decaying front in the Southeast on Wednesday-Thursday.
Uncertainty in the placement, but heavy, slow-moving rain & flooding is possible in Georgia & South Carolina.

Nice structural improvements with #Rafael. The satellite presentation has improved, and the latest recon pass has a much healthier wind field with highest winds near the center. Even a partial eyewall though we'll see if it sticks around. Poised for possible intensification later

Evolution of a near-surface velocity couplet during tornadogenesis near Moore, OK tonight

After years of watching severe events in the SE, I’ve learned to be very wary of setups where moisture and temperature increase nocturnally. That is exactly what happened here last night #okwx.

Huge power lines down. Homes destroyed. And trucks thrown in to houses. This tornado in east Oklahoma City was the real deal #tornado #okwx #severeweather

Very impressive rainfall totals from east central Spain yesterday 29-Oct,
The highest measured value was 491 mm in 8 hr. That’s 19.3” of rain. Wow.
Since the surface gauge network is sparse, the maximum rainfall was very likely more than 491 mm.

Pluja de dimarts (mapa + top) 🌧️
Dia històric. Disculpeu que falten dades al mapa, però moltes estacions no estan online perquè molts pobles no tenen llum ni internet. Ens consten uns 400 l/m² o més a Chiva, Cheste, Buñol o Torís. També 315 a Requena o 275 Utiel. Una barbaritat.

Grim situation in Chiva, west of Valencia tonight, where 430mm of rain have fallen today, with a scarcely believable 340mm of that falling in 4 hours!
