Enjoyed meeting and discussing with Pas. Brandon F. Smith the many areas of early Colonial American Particular (Regular) Baptist history that remain desperately in need of research. Brandon co-authored The Gospel Heritage of Georgia Baptists: 1772–1830.
Enjoying our time at the 18th Annual Southeastern Association of Confessional Baptist Churches!
It was great to meet Pastor Corey Bailey (@thekrak3n), editor of The London Standards: The Three Forms of Baptist Unity. An excellent book that deserves attention!
Through the generous support of our ministry partners, we were able to provide a newly ordained Reformed Baptist minister with a complete set of Booth’s works.
He asked me to convey his heartfelt thanks to all who make the work of PBHB possible.
Please prayerfully consider supporting this publishing ministry.

When we moved into our new/old building the yard had been neglected for years. Needless to say, there was no established grass. With some hard work and the Lord sending rain we now have a beautiful lawn. This reminds us that often times the establishment of important ministries and institutions require nothing more than ordinary people doing ordinary things consistently. Press on dear Christian serving God in your particular calling whatever that may be (Zech 4:10; Gal.6:9; 1 Thess.4:11-12).
Highly recommend listening to this message from PBHB Advisory Board member - Pas. Ron Miller (Covenant Reformed Baptist Church). sermonaudio.com/sermons/9122…
Today we have had a wonderful time at the Keach Conference hosted by the Central Atlantic Reformed Baptist Association (CARBA). @TomHicks2LCF has biblically and confessionally taught on The Law of God. Also we were greatly encouraged by bro. Nick Wills who is working on his ThM at @CBTSeminary on Henry Lawrence. Lawrence was closely connected to Thomas Goodwin and Philip Nye who were prominent 17th-century English Puritan ministers and leaders of the Independent (Congregational) movement. Lawrence, like many Reformed Congregationalists were lead to Credo-Baptist convictions.
"Put on charity, my friends, and wish well to all that love the LORD JESUS CHRIST, but, at the same time, hold fast your profession, without wavering." Benjamin Wallin (1711-1782).

On the Galatians,
“But, alas, how soon the face of things was altered! How soon, as to many of them, were their views of the grace of God, and of their justification before him, darkened! For Satan, that arch enemy of God and man, quickly began to sow the seeds of destructive error, and to raise up instruments to propagate a perverted gospel. He transformed himself into an angel of light, and pleaded the necessity of obedience to the law, in order to acceptance with God. Thus were they deceived, under a specious pretence of greater sanctity, and of a more than ordinary zeal for the divine
commands.
The righteousness of Christ, which Paul had described as the one thing needful for the justification of sinners, and which they had regarded as the only ground of their hope; they became afraid to trust, supposing it insufficient. They were taught by the false apostles, and were persuaded in their own deceived hearts, that they were under the necessity of seeking a supplementary aid from their own duties.
This doctrine, so flattering to their own vanity, so favourable to human worthiness, and not including a professed rejection of Christ and his work, they received with all readiness. For it is much more agreeable to the pride of nature, and a far more popular way of seeking acceptance with God; to use our own skill, and exert our own endeavours, as co-efficients with divine grace and the great Redeemer, than to rely entirely on the righteousness of another, and be absolutely beholden to a foreign, undeserved
assistance.—They entered, therefore, on a vain pursuit of happiness, in this plausible and self-pleasing, but delusive method. They clave to the law. They relied on their own duties, as co-partners with Jesus, in performing the greatest of all works, in obtaining the noblest of all blessings, their justification before the Almighty.
The awful consequences of which were they embraced another gospel; made void the necessity of our Lord's death; and virtually renounced all interest in him.”

“If Christ was the son of God with respect to his human nature only, the distinctive phrase, according to the flesh, when used in speaking of him, would be quite impertinent; for it is never said of any mere man, that he is the son of such an one according to the flesh, but only that he is his son; but the phrase is very pertinently used to distinguish Christ, the Son of God, according to his divine nature, from being the Son of David, and of the fathers, according to his human nature (Rom. 1:4, and 9:5).”

Fellow Reformed Baptist ministers, consider further acquainting your churches with the rich theology of our shared tradition by quoting our historic authors, when appropriate, in your sermons.
Here is an example of how I intend to work Abraham Booth into a sermon tomorrow on Colossians 2:10: heading - Completeness Is Received, Not Achieved.
In Glad Tidings to Perishing Sinners, after considering the dignity of Christ’s person and the perfection of His saving work, Abraham Booth asks: “Who, now, that maturely considers these infallible attestations to the dignity of our Lord’s Person, the perfection of his obedience, the depth of his penal sufferings, the vicarious nature of his whole work, and the exuberance of divine grace; can doubt the sufficiency, either of Christ or of grace, to save the most vile and miserable of men?”
Brethren, Booth is a gold mine for stuff like this...sadly his name is not commonly known among our churches. —D. W. Barger
Please reply with quotes you've used in past sermons.
It would be very helpful if someone created a database of Particular Baptist authors organized by theological categories.

“The body is not annihilated or reduced to nothing at death, which is contrary to reason and Scripture; at death, there is a disunion of soul and body; but neither are reduced to nothing; the body returns to the earth and the soul to God that gave it; and though the body after death passes under many changes and alterations; yet the matter and substance of it will remain in some form or another: death is sometimes expressed by returning to dust; but then dust is something: and by seeing corruption; but that supposes something in being, which is corrupted, matter and substance still remaining; but annihilation leaves nothing: and by sewing seed in the earth, which rots; by putting down a house; and putting off the tabernacle. But seed sown, though it dies and rot, it does not lose its being, nor its nature; but being quickened, in due time, it buds, and puts forth its seminal virtue: and so a house pulled down, and a tabernacle unpinned, the matter and substance, and the several parts of them, remain. And if the body was reduced to nothing at death, Christ would lose part of his purchase, and the Spirit his dwelling-place (1 Cor. 6:15, 19, 20).”

The grounds of our new facility needed a lot of help after years of neglect by the previous owner. Today we worked hard installing new landscape rocks and seeding the front yard. We pray this facility and the publication efforts of PBHB will continue to be a blessing to future Christians! Thank you to all our friends and ministry partners we value your prayers and support! Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
