The distinction between "absolute certainty" and "moral certainty" is an important one to remember in conversations regarding the subjects of baptism.
'If absolute certainty were required that the remission of sins properly pertains to all who are baptized, then Philip did wrong in baptizing Simon Magus (Acts 8), as did all who baptize hidden hypocrites - which nevertheless is often done, and rightly so, by God's command.

'Saving faith is the effect of true special grace, that is, of grace flowing from God according to election, and from Christ according to redemption, viz. as the redeemer, and designed head of his elect.' - John Norton, "Orthodox Evangelist"

My taste of God’s goodness and love waxes and wanes; His goodness and love-that which is in God-is God, so neither waxes nor wanes.

“All and every one in particular therefore, to whom the Gospel is preached, are not commanded directly to believe that Christ died for them. For that is a falsehood… We cannot therefore conclude from this general call, who they are for whom Christ died”

Can grace truly be deemed sufficient if it never yields the desired effect ... unless additional grace intervenes? Can something be considered a sufficient cause if it never operates in isolation? Does anything defy reason more than ... that there is one kind of grace,/

The Strict Baptist Preachers' Magazine (most of the volumes from 1961 to 1972). Upon joining the Particular Baptists, I have desired to cultivate a broad understanding of the different streams of Particular Baptist history in the UK in order to understand the landscape today. Other than talking to a few older saints and reading a handful of articles during this period. This is the most primary sources I have been able to obtain from this period of Particular Baptist history. This was a period of great reflection amongst the Strict Baptists, a time in which there was great evangelistic fervour. This is around the period of time that the free offer of the gospel and the duty of all who hear the gospel to savingly believe and repent was being recovered and debated amongst a large portion of Strict Baptists. During this period the 1966 (Particular and Strict) Baptist Affirmation of Faith would also be published (it's an excellent confession, sound in doctrine and reflective of the experiential piety of the Particular Baptists). Having skimmed through some of the pages of this magazine, it is a delight to see the rich experiential piety of the Particular Baptists.

'Tis faith that gathers up these supernatural truths out of the Gospel, and sets 'em home upon the conscience with power, subjecting the soul to the divine authority of the Word, without consulting flesh and blood about these high mysteries. Revealed truths are strange things to a natural man, and will never find acceptance with him, till his mind be suited to them by a supernatural irradiation. Heavenly things cannot be seen but by a heavenly light: when God shines in our hearts, then we are transformed into the very image of those truths which that light discovers to us, and do experimentally know what that renovation of the spirit is which the Word speaks of. Such Gospel truths are put into our inward parts as were never there before; this enables us to understand the Scriptures, to read 'em with pleasure; we delight in the law of God in our inward man.' - Thomas Cole, "A Discourse of Regeneration, Faith, and Repentance"
