After a wave of successful Genesis launches, @Virtuals_io is preparing its next phase. We spoke with co-founder @ethermage on Apps No Entrees about Genesis, the upcoming 69 Days release, and the power behind their Agent Commerce Protocol (ACP). Let's begin👇 ~~ Analysis by @davewardonline ~~ ACP: Building the "SWIFT" of AI Agents Sitting at the heart of Virtuals, the ACP is a framework that allows AI agents to communicate, transact, and work together to create economic value beyond what any single agent could achieve alone. "As we grew the density of agents in the ecosystem, we started to realize all these agents were specializing. You have agents specializing on entertainment and outreach to fans. You have agents specializing on trading. You have agents specializing on wellness and body AI, robotics, and so on." This specialization presented both an opportunity and a challenge for the ecosystem: how could these diverse agents — built by different teams with different architectures — effectively work together? ACP aims to solve this challenge by creating a standardized communication layer, essentially a way for agents to collaborate and become greater than the sum of their parts. Think of it as "the SWIFT of the agent economy," as Jansen put it. When two agents interact through ACP: 1. Their interaction state is handled onchain, providing a single source of truth. 2. Smart contracts manage payments through an escrow mechanism. 3. Third-party evaluator agents can be called in to verify work quality. 4. Incentive mechanisms help ensure fair compensation for all parties involved. To demonstrate ACP's potential, Virtuals has been quietly working with teams to develop two experimental "clusters" of agents: → Autonomous Media House: A collection of agents, such as @luna_virtuals, @AcolytAI, and Steven SpAIelberg (to name a few), that can work together to act as an automated marketing agency, first focused on shilling tokens in classic crypto style. → Autonomous Hedge Fund: A collection of DeFi agents like @AIxVC_Axelrod (which just launched for a 70x to early subscribers) and @VU_virtuals that work with handling portfolio management, and others focusing on risk assessment or user interactions. While these clusters are technically live on @base mainnet, Virtuals is waiting for "a slot in the marketing calendar" to officially unveil them, likely in three to four weeks. Following the public launch, Virtuals plans to open up the platform to all developers, so that new agents can participate in clusters. A visualization tool will also be released, showing how agents can connect and work together in real-time. As Jansen noted, this system puts Virtuals in direct competition with Google's recently announced A2A (Agent-to-Agent) system. "I think what they're critically missing is an innate transactional piece," he said, highlighting ACP's blockchain-based advantage. "This is a winner-takes-all market, and the first person who reaches a form of density of people using their standard will win." Project 69: A New Model for Token Launches While ACP develops in the background, Virtuals is preparing to launch Project 69. Project 69 tackles a significant problem: the reputational pressure that makes founders hesitant to launch tokens. "In Web2, if you fail a project, it's okay. You go and learn, then go and build better next round. In crypto, if you fail a project, you're a rugger,” Jansen said. Project 69 offers a solution, namely a 69-day experimentation period where founders can test their projects without permanent commitment. Here's how it works: → 69-Day decision window: When launching on Genesis, founders have 69 days to decide whether to continue the project long-term. → Commitment rewards: If they choose to commit, they receive their team allocation and accumulated trading fees. → Automatic unwinding: If they don't commit within 69 days, the liquidity pool automatically unwinds, returning funds to token holders and distributing trading fees proportionally. To prevent abuse, Project 69 requires founders to be doxxed through a Loom video explaining their concept and intentions. This encourages accountability while still offering a clean off-ramp if needed. The community will also have ways to signal their support, including a petition feature. The Road Ahead: Building an Agent Economy Despite the excitement, Jansen remains realistic about the ecosystem. Of the hundreds of tokens launched via Virtuals, he reasons only ~150 have "a worthy enough product," and only a handful have found product-market fit. He also acknowledged that many developers are still building "tooling agents" rather than fully autonomous agents, which was what Virtuals was designed for. But this is precisely why Virtuals continues to evolve its platform — to meet developers where they are at, while pushing the ecosystem forward. With ACP creating the infrastructure for agent collaboration and Project 69 lowering the barrier to experimentation, Virtuals is positioning itself at the center of the emerging agent economy, aiming to rival even the likes of Google. Yet for now, the focus is on the imminent launch of Project 69. This release could add even more fuel to fan the flames of Virtuals and kick off a new wave of innovation here, so keep an eye out for it.

Even with this year’s market rollercoaster, one thing’s stayed constant: a steady flow of new onchain apps. Some are playful, some ambitious—but all are pushing the boundaries of open innovation. Here are a few projects I’ve been tracking that feel worth a closer look. 👇 ~~ Analysis by @wmpeaster ~~ 👍 Immutable Ratings I used to work at NFT curation platform JPG, and I have a soft spot for the curatorial, i.e. the organization and preservation of what matters in a sea of information. I think online spaces are hurting for better curatorial tools, and this is even more potently true in crypto, where most infrastructure skews explicitly financial. But onchain tech has tremendous coordination potential in general. And you can put this potential toward more squishy curatorial ends, like surfacing and transparently recording public sentiments. That's what the IR team is attempting with @ratings_wtf, a new onchain ratings app on Base. The vision is to become a decentralized likes/dislikes layer across all web platforms. For now, X, Warpcast, and Wikipedia links are supported. If you want to try the app, you can 👍 or 👎 existing cards with a single click, or paste an URL into the search bar to create a new rating card on the spot. Each rating mints a small amount of either $TUP (ThumbsUp) or $TDN (ThumbsDown) tokens to an URL's hashed Ethereum Ethereum address, in turn creating a permanent ledger of public sentiment. Keep in mind, there is a small ETH fee per rating (about $0.11) to help prevent bots and support the project, with a portion donated to Ethereum core devs via Protocol Guild. If you want to dive deeper, check out the docs here. 🧠 Memory If Immutable Ratings is about curating public sentiment, @MemoryProtocol is about curating your personal story and owning it. This new protocol and app stack lets you link your wallets, social accounts, and favorite content to build a portable map of your online identity. Instead of your history being fragmented across platforms, Memory lets you assemble it all into a single "Memory" you control. Your followers, posts, likes, purchases, etc. can move with you across the internet, not just stay trapped inside individual app silos. Over time, you’ll even be able to earn $MEM tokens when platforms request your data here, meaning you can benefit directly from your profile. Right now, Memory is in alpha and available only to early supporters, but public access is just around the corner. If you want a peek at what the future of user-owned data can look like, it’s worth getting Memory on your radar now. 🎊 Panic (dot) Fun Remixing and second-order creation are another reason why crypto's open composability can be so powerful. And a new app demonstrating this truth in style is @panicdotfun. Created by the @dotfunlabs team (also behind Completor and Infector), Panic lets anyone easily turn any Base Base or Ethereum NFT into a coin via Zora. The coin becomes a remixed derivative of the original artwork, and some of the supply plus ongoing trading fees are automatically forwarded to the NFT's original artist without any effort on their part. It's a new avenue for permissionless onchain royalties accordingly. What I like here is 1) how Panic uses coins to extend provenance, ensuring NFT creators are anchored to the value their works inspire, and 2) it largely shifts the burden of coining experimentation onto collectors, which I think is an interesting and smart twist. In that sense, Panic is also remixing how we think about attribution, liquidity, and cultural ownership onchain. That's the kind of stuff I love to see. 👓 Chonks Marketplace In my opinion, @chonksxyz was one of the best NFT collections to drop in 2024. Not only is it fully onchain and CC0, but this Base PFP project was also one of the earliest adopters of ERC-6551, i.e. Token Bound Accounts (TBAs). TBAs allow NFTs to operate as smart wallets, i.e. capable of doing anything a full-fledged smart contract account can do. This includes the ability for an NFT to hold other NFTs within itself. In Chonks, we see this dynamic come into play as the project's Body NFTs hold the collection's trait NFTs within themselves, giving way to customization and tradability. Want to swap your look? Just buy new traits and suit up onchain. The catch with this architecture? There's an edge case via traditional NFT marketplaces like OpenSea and Magic Eden where Chonks sellers could technically strip their traits out at the last second, duping buyers out of what they thought they were purchasing. To address this pitfall, the Chonks team built their own custom marketplace from scratch, the Chonks Marketplace. It's designed to prevent front-running risks by automatically delisting any Chonk whose traits are transferred or individual traits when they're moved, too. On top of this, the Chonks Marketplace offers bespoke UX for trait traders, real-time metadata updates, and lower fees compared to the bigger NFT marketplaces. If you want to get a taste for customizing your own Chonk, or just to try TBAs in general, this new platform is a great starting point.

hi all, I want to share some changes that you'll see at @bankless -------------------------------------------- 1) AI & Frontier Tech episodes are getting a dedicated Podcast Feed AI fascinates me, but I get that not all Bankless listeners feel the same. So we’re spinning off AI/frontier tech episodes into their own feed (announcement 🔜). They’ll still appear on Bankless for now as we incubate the new feed, so I appreciate your patience as we work towards that -------------------------------------------- 2) Renewed Ethereum Focus Ethereum is going through a transformation, and I want to best support this transition. I'm going to prioritize Ethereum content to the best of my ability, and help educate and spread awareness that Ethereum is open for business. I look forward to the podcast with @tkstanczak and @hwwonx, and further discussions with them about how Bankless can support the effort. I know some want Bankless to be as Ethereum-focused as possible, but we need content that scales. I’m focused on finding Ethereum stories that are both meaningful and widely engaging, but I will sometimes find stories elsewhere too🙂 -------------------------------------------- 3) Thumbnails Like Ethereum, our thumbnails are going through a renaissance. While it seems like such a little thing, I've learned that people judge Bankless by the appearance of our thumbnails. Thumbnails are weirdly crucial for content businesses, and optimizing for CTRs is one of the highest-leverage things we do - that's why they are the way that they are. That said, we want to make the thumbnails give a strong appearance of legitimacy, and be a place where guests are proud to see their image. It was this way once, and it will be this way again. -------------------------------------------- 4) RSA is back this week You'll see RSA back on the weekly rollup this Friday. He'll have his own words to say, so stay tuned for those. I'm glad he was able to take some time off, and I'm also glad to get my friend back :) I'm also hugely grateful for the support from fellow podcasters to fill in his slot on the Weekly Rollup, especially @hosseeb @MikeIppolito_ and @intangiblecoins who showed up multiple times. In our 5+ years of running, Bankless has never missed a Monday interview, or a Friday Weekly Rollup, and I plan on continuing that streak. -------------------------------------------- If ya'll have any questions or any other feedback, pls let me know! Onwards!

Crypto prices are up after Trump’s tariff reversal — but the industry still faces a major headwind: it’s losing builders. A thread from @binji_x this week spotlighted the trend with stark data from @artemis and @ElectricCapital: dev activity is down nearly 40% since 2022, and new devs are leaving. So… where did the builders go?👇 ~~ Analysis by @shaaa256 ~~ Some of the answers are right in front of us. AI is surging and developers are following the energy. ChatGPT launched in late 2022, right around the same time you see developer activity decreasing in the charts above. In 2024, GitHub reported a 98% year-over-year increase in the number of generative AI projects hosted on its platform and a 70% increase in AI-related GitHub repositories from 2023 to 2024; 25% of active GitHub developers worked on AI in 2024, up from 18% in 2023. And crypto is… falling behind. Yes, many of the best crypto developers shifted their focus to Crypto x AI, but many also left to go full-time on AI. According to JetBrains' 2024 developer report, 18% mentioned developing apps that integrate AI, compared to just 3% mentioning the blockchain. Maybe they’ll incorporate crypto into their AI apps someday. Maybe they won’t. What’s clear is that venture capital followed suit. It didn’t disappear; it either doubled down on infra or shifted to AI. In 2024, over $5.5B flowed into crypto infrastructure — a record high — while funding for the application layer has flatlined. Worse, the systems meant to support devs, like grants, have become punchlines. People game the system while real builders burn out. Meanwhile, some claim the developer exodus betrays a lack of community investment in app layer developers that prioritize onboarding real users. Meanwhile, Crypto's culture can feel hostile to builders focused on the long game. Speculation often feels as though it is outrunning substance. Memecoins can get millions in minutes, while meaningful apps seem to struggle to get a tweet. Engagement farming is rewarded, and skepticism often seems to be punished. Building in public has never felt riskier, not because of the tech but because of the crowd. Yet, in all of this, there are still plenty of bright spots. Globally, adoption is decentralizing. Asia is now the #1 continent by developer share. India onboarded the most new crypto developers in 2024. Solana led in attracting new devs — up 83% year-over-year. @base now drives 42% of all new code written in the $ETH ecosystem. And one in three developers now works across multiple chains — a sign that composability and curiosity are alive. There’s also a quiet but important shift happening on the regulatory front. In the U.S., real momentum is building behind a few key bills that could finally bring clarity to how digital assets are treated. And it might be coming sooner than we think. Regulatory clarity doesn’t just de-risk projects; it unlocks capital. Top venture firms already have a presence in D.C., and once the fog lifts, they’ll be ready to deploy. With rules in place, hiring could pick up again, especially for U.S.-based teams that have been hesitant to build in the open. This isn’t a silver bullet, but it’s a meaningful tailwind that could bring the spotlight back to actual products and real users. Speaking of which, crypto, of course, continues to host a flock of builders that are shipping cool stuff that showcases genuine promise. Not long before seeing @binji_x's thread, I was reading through the latest developments from builders on @farcaster_xyz. There are still plenty of advances in user-centric experiences out there to discover. All of this matters; because the next wave of crypto will include token pumps but it won’t be built upon it. It’ll come from tools, apps, and protocols that solve problems and feel good to use. These experiences will bring real people onchain and keep them there. Adoption isn’t inevitable. It’s earned the hard way. The builders didn’t disappear. They just moved where the building feels real. We don’t just need more devs. We need real support systems, more opinionated ecosystems, and a more builder-first culture. Less vibes, more users.

|— 20 @farcaster_xyz Mini Apps you must check out.👇 The new V2 makes it easy for teams to launch slick onchain apps that go viral — complete with notifications, great UX, and fast iteration. For users, it’s like an open app store with DeFi tools, NFT games, and more — all right in your feed. ~~ Analysis by @wmpeaster ~~ —> General • 🎧 FC Audio Chat — Imagine Clubhouse or Twitter spaces, but on Farcaster instead. Install this app to either create your own audio chats or join in on others. • 🌿 Mint — The Farcaster team always drops commemorative NFT mints to celebrate their latest protocol releases. This app offers a streamlined minting interface for when these drops are live. • 📊 Onchain Alignment Chart by @jc4p — Are you more of a builder, a decentralist, a pragmatist, or a speculator? This app checks your onchain activity and then gives you a mintable scoring. • 📺 @podsdotmedia — The best onchain podcasts platform also has one of the best Farcaster Mini Apps, in my opinion. It's also a great opportunity to check out the minimization feature—listen to a Pods episode while you scroll! • 🪙 Rewards — Warpcast offers a rewards system where each week the top casters on the platform receive USDC proportional to their posting activity. This app helps you track your standing and earned rewards over time. • 🔄 @roundswtf — Rounds is a platform that lets you set up token rewards for your Farcaster communities, and this Mini App helps you dive into the project right in your feed. • 📩 Warpcast Labels by @thecompez — The flagship Farcaster client uses spam labels to mitigate high-noise accounts, so to speak. This app lets you check how trustworthy you are according to the Warpcast spam algorithm, plus it offers a useful FAQ on how to improve your score if need be. —> Token tools • 🤖 Clanker by @_proxystudio — Clanker is the Farcaster ecosystem's top natural language token launcher. Type a cast, get a token! Yet if you prefer an actual token launcher interface, this app gives you a more traditional UI for not just launching tokens but also for finding other trending launches. • 🦋 Earn on @morpho — More DeFi minded? This app lets you deposit ETH or USDC into a curated selection of some of Morpho's top onchain vaults. It's arguably one of the easiest ways to get started in DeFi today. • 🪩 @MintClubPro — A bonding curve token launcher platform that lets you use any existing ERC-20 or NFT as the base asset against a new token of your creation. It offers you some more advanced capabilities if you're looking for more than basic options. —> Creators • 🔋 Amps — This app lets you purchase likes in USDC in order to amplify your casts. Let's say you have a new NFT drop you're working on, you could release it and then use Amps to juice the boost and get more attention on your drop. • ✍️ @paragraph_xyz — One of the most popular decentralized publishing platforms, particularly on Base. Download this app to browse and explore recent posts on Paragraph right from within Warpcast. —> Games • ⬆️ Arrows by @davidhurley87 — A charming blend between @jackbutcher's Checks and the @higheronchain community's signature green arrow logo, this game calls you to blend your mints until your receive the signature green Higher arrow, thus winning an ETH prize pool. • 🐲 @clankermon — Like Pokémon? This is the Farcaster-native version of it, and it's pretty fun and light-hearted. Worth checking out if you're looking for a chill long-term play. • 👾 @Farcade_AI — This app offers a series of addicting mini-games, like Geo Crush, Minesweeper, and Tower Blocks. Worth exploring if you're into arcade-style gaming titles. • 📍 FarGuesser by @vmathur_— Think GeoGuessr, but Farcaster style. You're presented with an image of a certain random place, and you have to guess on the world map where that place is. Then compare your scores with others! • 🌾 FarVille by @builders_garden — This is a Farcaster ecosystem riff on FarmVille. If you're into casual lo-fi pixelated resource management plays, then this game will be right up your alley. • 💰 @megapot — This is an onchain, transparent lottery game. You can put in $1 in a stablecoin and win up to $100k in kind. If you're a gambler degen type, this would be a natural starting point here. • 🎰 @warpslot — This is a simple and chill casino app onchain built around spins. If you can match 3 slots in a row, you can win onchain token rewards from various communities on Base. Zooming out, the examples above are all interesting, but they're also just a taste of what's to come. They're only just beginning to scratch the surface of what's possible here as Farcaster's Mini Apps scene has started to rev up. It's partly personal taste and partly personal hunch, but as plenty of other apps are winding down amid the current onchain conditions, it really seems to me that Farcaster is winding up. And a large part of that is the Mini Apps boom. I think there are many opportunities to come here. Getting started now makes a lot of sense to me as such, so see you on the purple app!

8 Key Things to Watch in @cryptothegame_ Season 3 While we'll know more once the mint is live, but if past seasons are any clue, “Resurrection Island” promises high-stakes fun and a chance to connect with top crypto minds in the interactive, crypto survival game. Here’s what to watch for in Season 3.👇 ~~ Analysis by @wmpeaster ~~ Here are some main pillars to keep an eye on: • 🪙 The prize pool — CTG S2 reached an 80 ETH prize pool via NFT mints from 800 players, but it's not clear yet if S3 will be capped at 800 players. If the S1 and S2 mint price of 0.1 ETH is used again, and more players join this time around, then the prize pool would be the biggest one yet. • ✅ The rules — We can assume the basics of the format will likely be the same in S3, with players sorted into tribes and competing in challenges for tribal immunity against daily vote-outs ahead of the Merge, a la Survivor where players thereafter fight for individual immunity in a bid to be the last person standing. • 🌊 The partners — We do already know some of the CTG S3 partners. @OpenSea will be the official NFT marketplace for the entry passes, and @farcaster_xyz is running a custom challenge like the Lens team did in S2. If you plan on playing this season, it's a good time to set up OpenSea and Farcaster accounts if you haven't already. • 🦄 Unichain — @Uniswap acquired CTG last summer and just launched its @Unichain L2, with S3 set to be the first flagship onchain culture event to feature on the network. As such, the entry NFTs and some challenges may be on the L2, so consider bridging in some ETH now or wait to see CTG's official bridging UX. • 🪦 Resurrections — CTG is heavily inspired by Survivor, which has previously used redemption mechanics where eliminated players can reenter the game by winning competitions. Considering the "Resurrection Island" theme, S3 will likely make use of redemptions in some form or fashion. • 👾 Mini-games — Previous CTG seasons have used browser-based games, e.g. Flappy Bird and Snake, for tribal challenges. These typically are endurance challenges, with tribes grinding for hours to up their best scores for a shot at immunity. Expect another mini-game or two to make an appearance in S3 accordingly. • 🤝 Alliances — Early tribes see a frenzy of alliance-making, as people openly or discreetly sort into voting blocs. In the first phase of the game, these blocs tend to go after inactive or very high-profile players. Later, players that struggle in challenges prove to be low-hanging targets. Then, as tribes lose more challenges, betrayals and chaos take hold. • 👥 Cabals — In CTG S2, much ado was made about "cabals," i.e. secret cross-tribe collaborator blocs via professional or personal affiliations. For example, I was targeted as part of the "Bankless cabal" (lol) because some of my coworkers played on other tribes in S2. It seemed to be manufactured chaos to take out high-profile players, but assume similar chaos could unfold in S3! All in all, if you're new to the game and on the fence about joining in S3, I'll just say there's nothing quite like CTG in crypto. The gameplay is fun, the tribe dynamics are intense, and the networking potential is huge. Unless you get voted out on Day 1, I don't think you'll be disappointed. And in my experience, as long as you're active and helpful in your tribe, you have a good shot at making it past the first few days as inactives typically get weeded out first. It's worth a try, I say. At worst, you'll have some fun and meet new people. At best, you'll become a CTG champion and win a windfall of ETH. Personally speaking? I love that risk/return ratio.
