Pibank has retaken the top spot as the highest-rate savings account (non-promo rate, directly from an FDIC-insured bank and a low min balance.) Pibank increased its savings account rate by 15 bps to 4.40% APY. This is its second rate increase since the Fed’s Sep 16th rate hike (On Sep 30th, it increased its rate by 15 bps.) For much of 2025 and 2026, the Pibank savings account was a rate leader with a 4.60% APY. Its peak APY was 5.50% APY when it launched in Aug 2024. I reviewed Pibank savings and the parent bank, Intercredit Bank, in this February thread: xitter.cf/KenTumin/status/202134…
Pibank Savings Account has been in my Top 5 list for the last year. The savings account’s 4.60% APY has held steady since Feb 2025 while the Fed has cut 75 bps and other banks have substantially cut their savings account rates. 🧵about Pibank and its savings account.

BREAKING: US national debt just exceeded 100% of GDP for the first time since 1946 (due to World War II). So what happens next? Two things: 1. Higher inflation 2 Higher interest rates The math is brutal. The US government spends $1.33 for every $1 it collects. $1.9 trillion deficit this year. $24 trillion in projected deficits over the next decade. CBO projects 120% debt-to-GDP by 2036. 175% by 2056. In 2008, US debt was under 40% of GDP. Today it's over 100%.

Discover Bank Savings Accounts, Checking & CDs are no longer available to new customers Discover Bank’s website directs new customers to Capital One for deposit products. Existing customers can continue to log into their Discover accounts. Capital One will notify customers of future changes. Existing customers must log in to view their savings account APY (which currently remains the same as CapOne’s savings). Discover credit card applications continue to be available at the Discover website. On May 18, 2025, Discover merged into Capital One. Until recently, Discover continued to be run as it had before the merger. The phase-out of Discover-branded deposit products is similar to what happened after Capital One acquired ING Direct.
