Either both are fouls or neither is a foul. But they’re not going to re-referee they told us. #itsshit
Egypt's disallowed goal was completely against how this tournament has been refereed.
You can't have a light touch where you don't give fouls for minimal contact and then rule out a goal through VAR for a very minimal hold of the shirt.

I'm tired of seeing underdogs get robbed off of wins due to incompetent officiating and seeing people say it was a good game because the favourite played with 12 men.
No, it was not a good game. It is anti football, and everything wrong with it.
They're doing everything well to trick the casuals.

Incredible Egyptian goal is disallowed because of a foul far away, then same situation a few minutes later and goal for Argentina not disallowed! No VAR, nothing? FIFA again looks like a corrupt joke, playing favorites for stars.

Egypt disallowed goal:
It's allowed under VAR rules but tech in football was never meant for that - to wind back the play so long to review a softer tackle at the other end of the pitch not directly in the final phase of the counterattack. A tackle seen at the time by the ref

Madame Celeste Amarilla,

One prominent politician who hasn't chimed in yet on the reversal of @USMNT's Folarin Balogun's 1-game suspension: Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Before the suspension was reversed, tho, Mamdani said on his "Morning Pitch" stream yesterday that Balogun was "cruelly" given a red card.

To Senator McMorrow, her family, her staff, and her supporters: thank you for the work you did for democracy.
The same party insiders she had the courage to challenge have been bullying anyone who opposes their chosen candidate.
I welcome her supporters to our movement to stand up against money in politics, to put money back in pockets, and pass Medicare for All. We cannot allow the establishment to decide our nominee for us.

None of us knew Vozinha until 2 weeks ago and today he’s one of the most popular GKs on the planet. As long as there’s life, there’s hope. All it takes is one W.
This is a fascinating case. Private institutions should have real autonomy. Don’t like their uniform rules? Don’t send your kids there. That’s how freedom of choice and association actually work. Forcing religious accommodations on unwilling private schools via litigation just breeds resentment on all sides.
That said, this goes beyond Hijab. It’s about the blurry line between truly private entities and those with deep government ties. Can an institution sit on federal government land, use a prestigious federal university’s name and brand, enjoy the physical security and infrastructure of a federal campus and still claim it owes nothing to the federal government and should be treated as fully private? This creates a perception of public character and gives ISI prestige and indirect benefits but doesn’t that make it at least a “quasi-public” school with constitutional obligations under S. 38 & 42 of 1999 CFRN as amended? I think so because these benefits aren’t trivial.
I personally think the Court of Appeal got it right on current tests but if the Supreme Court takes a broader, more purposive approach looking at the overall character, benefits derived from federal assets, and the public facing nature of the institution, it may overturn the judgment. The Court has shown willingness to expansively protect religious rights in the 2022 hijab case and they could do this here again by demanding for more evidence on the exact legal relationship between UI and ISI.
ISI’s got strong argument as well that it is school fees funded, independently governed by its board of governors and not reliant on taxpayer subventions like core public schools. Location or loose affiliation doesn’t automatically strip private status as many entities use government premises without losing it.
Either way, this is really about where we draw the line between private autonomy and public accountability when institutions leverage government prestige. Can’t wait to see how SC rules.
Appeal court upturns judgment allowing hijab at UI international school
The court of appeal in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, has dismissed the judgment granting use of hijab by female Muslim students at the University of Ibadan (UI) International School (ISI).
In a split decision of two against one delivered on Friday, Biobele Georgewill and K.I. Amadi, held that the UI International School is a private school and not a public institution.
