Here's an overview of the changes to the #nighttrains network that we're aware of. Recently we took 2 steps forward, now we are taking 1 step back. Please let us know if we have forgotten anything. Please note that we do not cover occasional services and cruise trains.🧵1/4
Unfortunately, this does not apply to the two
between 🇸🇪 Gothenburg and Jämtland and Umeå. The former will be cancelled at the timetable change, the latter at the end of April. 3/4
There's also good news: 🇵🇱 PKP Intercity and 🇺🇦 UZ are expanding their range of international #nighttrains. The existing IC between Prague and Gdynia will have sleepers from 2025, Budapest will have a new train to Kiev, on top of the existing through coach from Vienna. 4/4

The earlier the EU introduces a fossil jetfuel tax on flights within the EU the earlier we'll get a newtwork of hashtag#nighttrains. So please share - to stop the Hungarian EU presidency delaying the tax for another ten years.
Today transport industry leaders and NGOs are calling on the Commission to end the tax exemption for aviation and maritime fuels.
This exemption undermines our climate goals and hinders the development of sustainable alternatives.

European Sleeper now officially announced its second line from Brussels🇧🇪 to 🥁🥁🥁 Venice 🇮🇹! Twice a week from 2025-02-05 until March.
Now upgraded to a promise in the EU Commission President's application speech: "We will propose a Single Digital Booking and Ticketing Regulation, to ensure that Europeans can buy one single ticket on one single platform and get passengers’ rights for their whole trip."
By gaining back the S‘holm🇸🇪-Narvik/Áhkanjárga🇳🇴route from VY, SJ is further internationalising its night train network. SJ also operates the all-year S’holm🇸🇪-Berlin 🇩🇪and the Oslo🇳🇴-Bodø🇳🇴 #nighttrains.

🍾 We did it. On Monday we transformed ourselves into Back-on-Track Europe a.i.s.b.l., an international non-profit under Belgian law in order to gain more influence on EU 🇪🇺 institutions (partly requiring legal status). Thanks to our donors from 14 countries who supported this!
