Here we see Makaton has completely copied the BSL sign - as they have for the vast majority of signs. How do Makaton justify the myth that their signs are easier when the signs are actual BSL signs
We are awaiting the arrival of our cheeky friends, this weeks sign is “Elf” first in #bsl and secondly in #makaton 🎄

These videos by the play team are great examples of how Makaton has in almost all cases directly & fully copied the BSL sign. Makaton say BSL signs are too hard for disabled people and yet they use these very same signs they state are too hard. Using BSL for all will benefit all
The sign of the week is “fireworks” first in #bsl and secondly in #makaton ❤️

Makaton supporters always block BSL users as they can't cope with having their flawed logic questioned. Rather than be open to discuss why the Makaton myths don't add up they just block

Another example of changes made by makaton that make no sense is the alphabet. Why? And why haven't they changed English words..afterall it is the English that many SEN children struggle with which is why they need the signs

Today is Makaton awareness. Did you know Makaton is guilty of cultural appropriation of native sign languages. Did you know that using the actual sign language (BSL in the UK) would be more effective and inclusive #makaton needs to stop

Makaton is a ridiculous concept if you consider doing this to any other languages. But because the oppressed deaf people they are somehow seen as a positive. Makaton needs to be abolished

Amazing News Coming soon a brand new system for children who struggle with language. This system is revolutionary. Schools and Organisations can become Enfake friendly by following steps....

.... And the best thing is it is so much easier than English. Created by non speaking English professionals who really understand how children and disabled people learn. Don't believe English people who say this system is wrong and will negatively impact English language....

... They don't know, or understand this system and want to stop disabled children being able to communicate. And the best thing is this system can be learnt in just 6 hours. Proof that Enfake is so much easier than English to learn. Early language starts with Enfake

I can't grasp how Makaton advocates can post videos as Makaton when they are British sign language signs. Everyday I see a Makaton video showing BSL. Yet Makaton argue that disabled people can't do BSL signs and yet post evidence that they can by the signs being actual BSL.

How can we transform deaf education in the UK? A new policy paper by Rob Wilks & Rachel O’Neill proposes integrating British Sign Language (BSL) using lessons from Welsh & Gaelic-medium education. 🧵👇lspjournal.com/post/adopting…

This is originally BSL, and not Makaton. There’s a whole system of signs using this handshape in BSL, associated with negative meanings (including ‘ill’, ‘weak’, ‘criticise’ etc).

@maddiemoate heard you are taking over from Justin Fletcher on SS. Congratulations! But you should know the show isn’t without controversy 👇 Makaton isn’t a language, and it puts limits on what disabled people can do. BSL is built by disabled people for disabled people. Makaton has a real negative history in the Deaf community. A community who have fought hard to get their language recognised when it has been stolen, marginalised and even stamped out. A community whose culture is entirely defined by their language. Out of respect for those that sign everyday I’d urge you to reach out and become educated on the history & differences between BSL and Makaton so that when you’re signing you’re better connected to the people who are communicating using it everyday. There are lots of people inside the BBC who can help, I can help. But please don’t take your instruction from Makaton people alone who sit apart from this great vibrant community.

Just saw this about Tasha Ghouri and bullying over deaf speech. Hearing people need to learn to deal with it, since you're the ones who expect deaf people to speak, over glorify CI switch ons, etc. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0j8…
