Ambassador Virginia Palmer has been a great friend of Ghana, and her outstanding efforts to bolster Ghana-US relations across a wide spectrum will always be remembered. On the balance, she leaves behind positive giant footprints which will inspire her successors. These were my remarks when I hosted her farewell visit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Palmer leaves Ghana but we know Ghana will always be in her heart — we wish her the very best in her future endeavors.

Yesterday, I received a delegation of chiefs and elders from the Sankana Traditional Area, led by Biis Naab Bernard Mornah, the Youth Chief of the Moba people. The delegation came bearing congratulatory and goodwill messages from the Sankana Naa. They informed me of the press conference that was organized by the Sankana traditional council in my honour after my inauguration. I thanked the elders for their visit and congratulations. I also expressed my appreciation for all their help during my years of research in the community; for providing me with the access I needed to enter their community; and, above all, for honoring me with the position of Queen mother - Pognaa Piirima Maaluma - and an honorary membership on the traditional council.

Here are some highlights from yesterday's working visit to the National Service Authority. I was welcomed by Acting Director General Felix Gyamfi, Acting Deputy Director General Ruth Dela Seddoh, and their team. I reaffirmed President Mahama’s commitment to youth development and assured them of our partnership in building and transforming the Authority into a world-class institution. #YouthPower #BuildingTheFuture

At age 75, you lived your life well. Yesterday you called me several times that I come see you. We sat on the bed and spoke at length about politics, life, farming and business and Offcourse we gossiped. We spoke about my swearing-in in 3 days time and you told me specifically to serve diligently in government. 10 minutes after I left your house, I was called that you were not being responsive. I came back, we rushed you to the hospital and you were gone. Thanks for being my father, thanks for being my best friend, thanks for being my number 1 cheer leader and thanks for everything you did for me. Say hi to mum for us all….we will miss you. Rest in perfect Peace Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr.
