Insurance executives admitted they intentionally denied Forrest VanPatten's cancer treatment claim even though it was illegal due to laws forcing insurers to approve cancer treatments. Forrest died before being told this&not a single exec was ever charged
Luigi Mangione is going to serve the rest of his life in prison because he admittedly killed someone. No one in a healthcare company serves a minute in prison for the lives they take or ruin for refusing healthcare to people who need it. They are equally is guilty as Mangione.

Really crazy that this story wasn’t turned into a movie. Black stories aren’t being told anymore (on purpose).
One of the first buses to arrive in Houston after Hurricane Katrina was driven by a 20-year-old who had stolen it to help evacuate people from the disaster. The man behind one of the first buses to escape New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina was 20-year-old Jabbar Gibson. On August 31, 2005, as floodwaters engulfed the city and conditions at the Louisiana Superdome deteriorated, Gibson found an abandoned school bus with the keys still inside. Instead of waiting for delayed rescue efforts, he took the bus and loaded around 70 stranded people—including children, elderly residents, and families—to get them out of the disaster zone. Driving for nearly seven hours through flooded roads, storm debris, and police checkpoints, Gibson safely reached Houston, Texas. When the bus arrived at the Astrodome, officials initially assumed it was part of an organized government evacuation before discovering Gibson had acted entirely on his own. Although taking the bus was technically illegal, his actions were widely praised, and he was celebrated as a hero for helping save dozens of lives during one of America’s deadliest natural disasters.

Partido Comunista de China: "El golf no tiene ningún valor deportivo en absoluto"
China has announced the ban on the existence of golf courses. It requires that all existing golf courses be incorporated into urban community parks and made accessible to all citizens. Moreover, it states that golf has no sporting value at all.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
China has not announced a nationwide ban on existing golf courses, required their conversion to public parks, or stated that golf has no sporting value; new construction has been paused since 2004. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golf_in_C… zh.wikisource.org/wiki/%E5%9B%BD…

i took a couple environmental-based politics classes in college and in every single class they quite literally say this would happen because of our unchanged behavior towards climate change so yeah it’s crazy but lowkey what did we think was gonna happen
it’s peak summer and 104 degrees outside and we can’t have salads or berries or fruits or greens of any sort

The media loves to obsess over transition regret, but I’d be willing to bet that regret over never really living is much more common
One day, you will die. That is certain. Do you want to die having never been born? What is it you think you are saving? Can you take it with you, after you are gone?

I know that “for too long” is becoming a bit of a meme (and I’m sure they know because that gets attention) but I basically think it’s the animating idea of the administration: there’s been basic stuff the city has not been doing for too long!
