After the Brighton game at the end of last season, we were invited to Newcastle United Football Club to discuss a proposal we put forward for the 2024/25 campaign. Our proposal focused on the trial of a dedicated singing section aimed at enhancing the matchday atmosphere.
The idea was to utilise the unsold away ticket allocation in Level 7 for selected games, where ticket holders could opt in to be part of this designated singing section. This would allow those vacating their seats to have them resold by the club, making the initiative both flexible and practical.
During our meeting, those we spoke with were positive about the concept, and we left hopeful that this trial could pave the way for further discussions and potential refinement. However, as of now, it seems that the idea has not been taken any further forward. We remain optimistic and are keen to see if the club will revisit the proposal in the near future.
The decline of atmospheres within the Premier League isn’t an issue that’s going away, but neither is the business model that prioritises commercial interests above all else. Balancing these competing priorities is challenging, but we believe that fostering a vibrant matchday atmosphere is crucial for the soul of the club and the experience of the fans.
As a group, we've done our best, with honest intentions, to highlight the issue of the home atmosphere. However, we recognise that there are much larger supporter groups and organisations who could push this issue more effectively, should they choose to do so.

The official attendance figures from Sunderland's game last night have come in at 7,984 - which includes the travelling away Brentford fans...
To put this figure into perspective, and to get ahead of the 'it's a cup game' comments, their northern co-part Newcastle are set to bring 8,000 fans down the country tonight to Everton to watch their team play in the same round of the exact same cup..
For a club that gets a lot of stick for their poor fanbase over the past few years, they really do absolutely nothing to help themselves... 🤦🏼♂️
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The official attendance for Sunderland vs Brentford was 24,305, not the 7,984 claimed in the post and graphic.

Bruno Guimarães was captaining his side against the likes of Barcelona last season, now he’s playing backup to Miles Lewis Skelly and missing penalties against Fleetwood Town 😢

Look at him.
The rest are the same.
They’ve been dying for it.
Their Friday night curry club with Howe is over & destroyed their relationship with the club.
The only person to take it out on is the new manager.

No £80 replica shirts. No phones filming every second. No marketing telling you how special it all was. Nobody flying in from Singapore after paying £700 for a ticket.
Just lads getting there hours early and queuing forever at the turnstiles. Cold hands, muddy terraces, and all that mattered was bagging your spot on the wall. Football when it was simple. 👏🏻👏🏻

“I have never worked anywhere that feels as proud and passionate about its crest" - So we decided to change it without giving the option to say no 👍
Replying to @NUFC
David Hopkinson, our CEO, said: “I have never worked anywhere that feels as proud and passionate about its crest than the way this club does, so this body of work is an enormous privilege and responsibility for all of us.
“The club has asked supporters questions that we did not know the answers to, and they told us plainly:
protect what we have, keep the elements we love, and do not start again. Every decision after that has been made inside the margins our fans drew, and it is only right that our fans have had the final and decisive say on the outcome.”
“Our crest came from the city's own coat of arms, and it still does. It honours where we have come from, it represents who we are now, and it will become an iconic symbol for generations of supporters around the world who believe in it and unite behind it.”
Would love to know how much they've paid designers for this shite. If it had to change, you already had one on the away top. – at Kenton Bank Foot, England
Every crest has a story. Ours is forged by our city’s history, fuelled by our ambition, and drives us into our future.
We are proud to introduce the new club crest chosen by our supporters to represent Newcastle United.
The new crest will be used from today and will be put in place progressively across physical signage and digital and broadcast platforms over the coming months. It will be in place on our kits for the 2027/28 season.

I almost feel bad for Newcastle fans. Spent all month screaming ‘£100m raw cash or no deal’ only to watch Tonali explicitly push his agents to finalise terms with De Zerbi’s Spurs.
Imagine having all that oil wealth just to be used as a stepping stone for the real big six.
Enjoy your PSR tightrope while we drop bombs. 🤫💸 #NUFC #THFC

Everything wrong with football
Created by the poor. Stolen by the rich.
🚨 Manchester United players have been instructed to only shake hands with the paying ‘VIPs’ behind the rope, and to ignore the rest because they “haven’t paid”! 🤬
Embarrassing!

If you don’t boo this little shithouse when he comes up here you are a gullible little happy clapper.
The die hard Newcastle fan knows he pushed his way out of this club at a time where we needed him most. Ross Wilson even said we didn’t want to lose him.
He forced our hands “how much you love the club” bullshit son.
We hate you for what you did you will be treat like Isak and everyone shouldn’t believe this little act he’s put on.
