So at home Musk is spending hundreds of billions of dollars to get Ken Paxton elected to the Senate … abroad he is single-handedly trying to help Russia defeat Ukraine. This comes a year and a half after he destroyed USAID. Musk is more than a cartoon villain. He’s a direct threat to democracy at home and peace abroad

Watching this #Isles & #flytogether game and all I can think about is how Joel Quenneville ignored the serial rape of one of his players in order to win hockey games and it’s a fucking Shonda that he’s in the league.

TOFOREST JOHNSON'S DEATH SENTENCE HAS BEEN COMMUTED! Gov. Kay Ivey grants clemency in long-running wrongful conviction. I am sobbing with gratitude and relief. More work to do, but this is a victory for truth and justice. Thank you, God!!!!!!!!!!

Toforest Johnson's death sentence was commuted over concerns he might be innocent, and those concerns are mainly public because of @bshelburne's incredible journalism.

Again, The Establishment is HEAVILY financially supporting him (as much as or more than any other candidate in the country) because his race is much closer than it should be. They are also sending their top (black) surrogates like Kamala Harris and Barack Obama, because he is struggling (with Black) voters. Even Third Way has endorsed him. The party literally could not be doing more to help this guy win (despite him making it difficult) and yet because some random ex-party chair from over a decade ago is not supporting him, that totally vindicates Astead's running narrative that THE ESTABLISHMENT is sabotaging The Truly Pure Progressives. Just more Lefty Truthiness slop from one of the worst 'journalists' around.
From my August newsletter on the Uncommitted movement, whose establishment critics are now adopting their playbook: “In the coming months, it may be that the Democrats’ moderate wing — think tanks like Third Way, party leadership, and those offended by the electorate’s rising leftist tide — who will adopt some of the same tactics they criticized. Already, Rep. Hillary Scholten, who is supporting Stevens in Michigan, has signaled she may refuse to support El-Sayed in a general election, due to his association with Piker. It seems “vote blue no matter who” has its limits. For progressives. For centrists. For everyone.”

It’s amazing how you can immediately tell which one is the Democrat and which one is the Republican
The two candidates for Missouri House of Representatives District 158 have something in common. Left: incumbent R - Scott Cupps Right: D - Chris Foster

Jon Greenblatt not helping Jews by beating those partisan hack allegations
The term “Shylock” is rooted in a longstanding antisemitic stereotype. Regardless of intent, its use can reinforce harmful tropes about Jews and normalize language that has long been used to target the Jewish community.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The term was used (for at least the second intent in as many years) by President Trump. forbes.com/sites/siladity… Important context to point out the user of the term regardless of intent.

As in the past, the longtime organization to combat antisemitism makes no mention of Trump using the term at a campaign rally last night.

Bloomberg gets named (correctly) by @michelleinbklyn for ushering in a choice-oriented high school system but it was de Blasio who later wiped away remaining vestiges of local zoning in the name of equity. Leading to more inequity. nytimes.com/2026/10/19/opini…

Hague is demonstrably correct. Going to say it again. The fact there are still people on the right lashing themselves to and venerating Trump is incomprehensible.
William Hague declares Trump the worst president of his lifetime, and struggles to see how anyone could have a different opinion. “This mishandling of world affairs … is the most serious development and negative development in the world since the Second World War.“ @StigAbell | @WilliamJHague

A candidate for the U.S. Senate says Israel is not America's friend. I'm Israeli. I grew up in Israel. My family is Israeli. And I can tell you this: Few nations hold America as close to their hearts as Israelis do. Fact: Israelis admire America. 81% of Israelis view the United States favorably - the highest percentage among 36 countries surveyed by Pew in 2026. Who else in the Middle East does? No other U.S. ally can have 200 fighter jets in the sky in 3 hours notice. Modest compared with America's military might, certainly. But backed by something more important: a profound commitment to the United States, regardless of who occupies the White House. Security is real. Capabilities are real. And friendship is real too. This candidate understands nothing of it. He is trying to pick up votes through hate. None of this requires defending Netanyahu. None of it requires endorsing everything Israel has done in recent years. It requires understanding one fact: Israel America's most enduring ally in the Middle East. Criticizing an Israeli government is legitimate. Pretending Israel is America's enemy is something else entirely. Any other notion is just bigotry masquerading as conspiracy theory- or conspiracy theory masquerading as bigotry.

Tonight Trump yet again used the antisemitic “Shylock” — a year after he was called out for doing so and claimed he didn’t know it was problematic. Again: not an accident. He has consistently normalized antisemitic conspiracy theories and tropes. msn.com/en-us/news/other/tru…
Shylock is among the most quintessential antisemitic stereotypes. This is not an accident. It follows years in which Trump has normalized antisemitic tropes and conspiracy theories — and it’s deeply dangerous.

This is also a microcosm of why Blue and White failed. Benny Gantz is a petulant child, not a leader.

Some background on Mr. Bock, the new Deputy Chief of Staff at ICE, who is pushing Great Replacement theory here while using the “remigration” language of the European far right, a phrase whose connotations he is well aware of.
It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve President Trump at @DHSgov. Remigration is the decisive battle of our time, and represents the only means of securing the longevity of this Republic and the continuity of the people and civilization that built it. The work continues at @ICEgov.

Who Can Afford 3 Kids In New York City? nytimes.com/2025/10/09/nyreg…
Great, great data. I also a hunch that having 3 kids was becoming a new status symbol for the 1% in the 2020s. Not quite. It's more that 3-kid families among every other non-rich percentile has declined by double-digit percentage points while the 1% held steady. So having 3 kids went from being fairly common across the board to a luxury good that, increasingly, only the 1% can afford.
