Injury Update: Becky Downie (GBR) ~What a difference a week makes ! It can be so easy to see a snap shot and be quick to judge when the reality is there is almost always more going on than people care to understand. Since my shoulder surgeries last year, I’ve struggled a lot with my left arm and I knew something wasn’t right. This summer we decided to reinvestigate and unfortunately due to one of my anchors coming loose another surgery was required for removal. Previously I’ve never had any complications after a surgery so this was a new one for me and quite hard accepting another surgery was on the cards. I’d worked incredibly hard to return so quickly from 2 rotator cuff repairs which for context is like an Achilles / ACL recovery process X2 and I wanted to get back on the international stage that I’d worked so hard for before getting fixed again. I couldn’t be more grateful to my family, friends, medical & support teams who always take the time to listen, care and problem solve with me. It’s been a really rough two years recovering from the surgeries I had but I am so happy to hopefully be on the mend now. Only way is up 💜~
