On this #WorldHumanitarianDay I’m thinking of those brave enough to put on their Red Cross and Red Crescent vests to make the world a better place in the most challenging of times. The @IFRC continues to call for protection for our workers. We must protect humanity.

Many of our volunteers have stories of how the Red Cross or Red Crescent impacted their lives. Gunel, who was displaced as a child, leverages that experience to showcase humanity to others as a volunteer with @AzRedCrescent. Thank you for your critically important work, Gunel.

Gunel has volunteered for Azerbaijan Red Crescent for 14 years. Displaced from a young age, she often felt unsure of her future.
Until she found the Mental Health & Psychosocial Support Training at @AzRedCrescent - which she now teaches to others.

It's #WorldHumanitarianDay.
Who is a humanitarian?
Humanitarians are people who serve, help, & care for others. And as we face rising humanitarian challenges, we need them more than ever.
But they need to be protected.
Humanitarians are not a target. #NoMatterWhat
