February 6, 2023… The disaster of the century. We lost tens of thousands of lives, our cities were destroyed. But the strongest force that rose from the ruins was solidarity. Our community kitchens, hot meal trucks, and mobile kitchens worked tirelessly. Mobile toilets, showers, and laundries met the basic needs of our people. In this process, we saw the true strength of supporting one another and healing together. The pain of this loss will never fade, but together, we will continue rebuilding lives. We are sharing the warmth of the table with thousands of families in Somalia. ❤️🌍 At the El-Hidaya Camp, located 13 kilometers from the capital, Mogadishu, we delivered food parcels to displaced families, made possible by the generous support of our nation. Thousands of kilometers away from home, we continue to help families in need meet their essential food needs. Our heartfelt thanks go to our nation for being part of this act of kindness. 🇹🇷 🇸🇴

We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives following the collapse of a school roof in Peshawar, Pakistan. May Allah have mercy on those who lost their lives. We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Birgitte Bischoff Ebbesen, @ifrc Regional Director for Europe. We mourn the loss of a valued colleague with whom we worked side by side in the field, shared the same humanitarian responsibility in times of hardship, and collaborated in close coordination. We will always remember Birgitte for her unwavering commitment to humanitarian action, her warmth and sincerity, and the meaningful legacy she leaves behind. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones, the IFRC community, and the entire International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

For 74-year-old Ali Wesonga, there is now a new pathway to clean water on the land he has called home for many years. 💧❤️ Through the water wells we have opened in Kisoko, Busia County, Kenya, we are helping make clean water a more accessible part of everyday life. The right first aid can turn a critical moment into a new beginning. 🆘 When 75-year-old Muhammed, affectionately known as Uncle Muhammed, suddenly became unwell at our Kızılaykart Bağcılar Service Center, our team provided basic life support for approximately 18 minutes until emergency medical teams arrived. Days later, our doors opened again—this time for a heartwarming reunion. ❤️ Having recovered, Uncle Muhammed returned to meet the team members who had provided him with first aid that day. #WorldFirstAidDay ❤️🌙

We conducted a field visit to observe the implementation of the MIRAE Project – Support for Syrians under Temporary Protection in Türkiye, with the participation of Sukjong Boo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Türkiye; Y. Ramazan Saygılı, Secretary General of Türk Kızılay; and representatives of the relevant institutions. Implemented through the cooperation of Türk Kızılay, the Korean Red Cross and the Republic of Korea, the project aims to address the protection, psychosocial support and social cohesion needs of Syrians under temporary protection and host communities through a comprehensive approach. Across seven provinces, the MIRAE Project provides mobile child-friendly spaces, protection and psychosocial support, specialized MHPSS services, food and hygiene assistance, and capacity-strengthening activities. @ifrc @KoreanRedCross

We have opened our Kars Community Kitchen. 🍽️ Every day, we deliver hot meals to the doorsteps of elderly people, people who are ill, and people with disabilities who are unable to prepare their own meals — while taking the time to listen to their needs. With our goal of establishing 81 Community Kitchens across all 81 provinces, we are reaching beyond the table and touching lives throughout Türkiye. 🌙

Along the path of kindness reaching Gaza, every item of humanitarian aid touches a family’s table and a child’s tomorrow. As part of her engagements in Egypt, our President, Prof. Dr. Fatma Meriç Yılmaz, visited the warehouse where humanitarian relief supplies are being prepared for delivery to Gaza and shared information on the needs in the region and the ongoing humanitarian response. Gaza is in our thoughts and hearts! 🌍 Our President, Prof. Dr. Fatma Meriç Yılmaz, visited Al-Nas Hospital in Egypt and met with patients from Gaza who are undergoing treatment there. Our delegation also joined Egyptian Red Crescent volunteers in preparing food parcels destined for Gaza. Drawing strength from solidarity and close cooperation, we continue our humanitarian aid efforts for Gaza. 🌙

In Kenya’s Busia region, the journey to water is now a little shorter. 💧❤️ With the support of our donors, 5 solar-powered water wells are now providing local communities with clean and reliable water, while helping ensure sustainable access to this vital resource. ☀️🌍 #Kenya

Somewhere, it is a warm meal; elsewhere, clean water; and miles away, a helping hand reaching a child… ❤️🌍 From Gaza to Somalia, wherever the need is greatest, we work to deliver kindness and humanitarian assistance while upholding human dignity. On 19 August, #WorldHumanitarianDay, we thank everyone who carries compassion and solidarity beyond borders. 🌙

Every step means holding on to life more firmly.❤️ Udey, 24, lost his right leg in the bombing in Gaza. Through our Prosthetic and Orthotic Support Project, he received a below-knee prosthesis. We’re happy to support Udey as he regains his mobility and takes steps forward again.
