Most MCP servers fall into two traps: raw API passthrough that floods context with bloated JSON, OR semantic search that burns tokens returning API docs.
If an MCP server isn't actively filtering and reshaping backend payloads for the agent, it’s just an expensive proxy.
I agree with a lot of this.

Been testing Docker’s MCP Gateway for running Model Context Protocol servers in the lab. Centralized setup, token auth, and containers run on demand instead of dealing with scattered STDIO instances. Worth playing with if you’re scaling this out.
