The Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty has underpinned a decades-long global norm against nuclear testing that benefits all states. It’s in every state’s interest to maintain it. That was my message at today's CTBT meeting at the UN as we push for the Treaty’s entry into force

Congratulations to Tonga on ratifying the CTBT. This marks an important milestone for our region, with all countries in the Pacific now party to the Treaty. Australia looks forward to working with Tonga to strengthen the global ban on nuclear test explosions.
🌏 Tonga has signed and ratified the #CTBT, completing universalisation of the Treaty across the Pacific region. The ceremony took place on Tuesday, 7 July at UN Headquarters in New York, a landmark moment for 🇹🇴, for the Pacific, and for the global effort to ban nuclear test explosions. The Treaty now counts 188 States Signatories and 179 ratifying States. ctbto.info/TongaRatification

The Australia Group’s role in in fighting the spread of chemical and biological weapons is more important than ever. Pleased to promote the AG to regional partners last week at the #PSI meeting and the benefits states enjoy through unilateral adherence or participation in the AG
Western Hemisphere cooperation through #PSI was on display in Buenos Aires last week where officials discussed proliferation threats, interdictions, maritime awareness, proliferation financing, cargo handling, ship boarding and participated in a lively table top exercise.
