Under #NDCs4All, a new Capacity Building System (CBS) has been installed in Benin, providing access to International Monitoring System (IMS) data and International Data Centre (IDC) products. The mission also strengthened regional cooperation through exchanges of knowledge and experience between the National Data Centres of Benin and Togo, supporting scientific applications and enhancing global #CTBT verification capabilities.
The CTBTO’s Integrated Field Exercise (#IFE26) has moved into the field operations in Namibia. Within the fictional scenario, teams are laying the groundwork for the start of the exercise inspection activities in the field: from the arrival at the Point of Entry procedures to negotiations, equipment check and transport, and establishing the Base of Operations.
Our thanks to Namibia for hosting, actively participating and helping make this international exercise possible.

On the Intl. Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, a word about what our network does beyond its core purpose. The Intl. Monitoring System exists to detect nuclear test explosions. The data it collects also helps identify earthquakes and other events that can generate tsunamis, reaching tsunami warning centres in near real-time under agreements with the States Signatories that operate them.

At the Africa Group Plenary in Vienna, @DrRobFloyd thanked Ghana for chairing the group and for a milestone in March: the first regional commemoration of the Treaty’s 30th anniversary. The Executive Secretary pointed to a continent that today hosts 38 monitoring stations and 42 National Data Centres, and looked ahead to #IFE26, starting in October in Namibia, the most ambitious Integrated Field Exercise the Organization has ever run.
The #CTBTO Integrated Field Exercise (IFE26) launch phase is underway.
#IFE26 continues this week with in-house preparations and consultations with the exercise’s Requested State Parties (RSP), Nirland and Logor, and the Inspected State Party (ISP) of Lumaria.
These Treaty-based procedures and steps are an essential part of setting up the framework for exercise activities in the field in Namibia.

30 years ago, the world was still testing nuclear weapons: more than 2,000 of them since 1945, underground, beneath the ocean and high in the sky. Then the international community set out to end it: a Treaty, and a system to prove it was being kept. It’s worked: fewer than a dozen declared tests since. The Road to Zero tells that story.

The #CTBTO Integrated Field Exercise (IFE26) is officially underway! The realistic scenario started the clock with the request for an on-site inspection (OSI) being received, triggering the activation of the Operations Support Centre (OSC) and internal preparations.
IFE26 will go through the procedures and steps of an OSI prescribed by the Treaty, which can be requested by States Signatories once the #CTBT enters into force. It will be one of the most comprehensive multinational exercises in nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament.
Stay tuned for more updates from #IFE26! ctbto.info/m/IFE26

With the certification of infrasound station IS54 at Palmer Station, Antarctica, the United States has completed its segment of the International Monitoring System (IMS). Reaching this point in one of the most remote and unforgiving places on Earth was no small undertaking, and we owe a great deal to the US, @doddtra and @uafairbanks for seeing it through.
