Fantastic to visit the University of Auckland’s Centre for Automation and Robotic Engineering Science (CARES) and Te Pūnaha Ātea Space Institute—two world-class hubs driving innovation, security, and economic growth in Aotearoa New Zealand.
At CARES, I saw firsthand how cutting-edge robotics research is enhancing disaster response, cybersecurity, infrastructure resilience, and defense capabilities. Meanwhile, Te Pūnaha Ātea’s end-to-end approach to space science—from satellite mission design to in-orbit tech demonstrations—is shaping the next generation of engineers and strengthening global space collaboration.
Together, U.S.-NZ partnerships in science and technology are building a safer, more prosperous future. 🇺🇸🤖🚀🇳🇿

New Zealand is one of the ‘big 4’ when it comes to rocket launches. I am in Adelaide and have spoken at the Australian Space Forum. Exhibitors feature innovations from Space countries including New Zealand. Here’s one I found at Auckland University’s space institute stand.
The @AucklandUni are pleased to be leading two of these studies - one focussed on optical communications and another on space situational awareness.

#FridayFacts: Without reliable measurement, reporting, & verification protocols it's impossible to manage #methane emissions.
🛰 With data from @MethaneSAT, policymakers will soon have access to accurate & actionable data to hold emitters to account.

.@MethaneSAT and @CarbonMapper will complement each other perfectly. With wide views and pinpoint data we'll be able to see which facilities have leaks and where they're coming from. This comprehensive view of methane emissions will enable faster action.
