Dryland Congress 2026 | Meet our keynote Speaker – Dr Augusto Becerra, ICARDA
Dr Augusto Becerra (@labecerra66), Deputy Director General – Research, International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (@ICARDA, based in Rabat, Morocco, brings extensive experience in agricultural research, dryland farming systems, crop improvement and climate resilience.
Through his leadership at ICARDA, Dr Becerra contributes to advancing research and innovation for some of the world’s most challenging agricultural environments, where farming communities face increasing pressures from drought, heat, land degradation and water scarcity.
ICARDA’s work spans crop improvement, sustainable management of land and water resources, livestock systems and climate adaptation, with a strong focus on developing and scaling solutions suited to dryland communities.
At #DrylandCongress 2026, Dr Becerra will bring valuable perspectives on how international agricultural research, scientific innovation and cross-regional partnerships can accelerate the development and scaling of solutions for resilient and sustainable dryland agriculture.
We look forward to his insights as researchers, policymakers, industry leaders and development partners come together to shape the future of dryland agriculture.
