Dr O. Very interesting!! So - does that mean that earth could see all sides of the moon then? i.e. I can’t see how the rotational rate of the moon would also match the orbital period as it does now. Are we just in an incredibly coincidental time where both rates match?

A job very well done by @NorthropGrumman's
S.S. Piers Sellers #Cygnus spacecraft! A vehicle worthy of its namesake. I'm proud to be a #sardine @NASA_Astronauts classmate of Piers's, who is a distinguished @EdinburghUni alum. Must be a fantastic school!

I’m very INSPIREd by the amazing young people I’m meeting at the @ITUDevelopment #GenerationConnect Youth Summit here in beautiful Kigali Rwanda. I’ve met likely future astronauts, CEOs and presidents. We’re in good hands if these are the leaders of tomorrow!
On the airplane headed to Kigali for the #GenerationConnect Global Youth Summit! I’m excited to meet with young people from around the world - the leaders of tomorrow! The world will need their talents as we plan and create #DigitalTransformation for all!
WOW!! We can do incredible things. This is amazing.
Truly fascinating. I zoomed in with my Mastcam-Z camera on a Phobos solar eclipse. This detailed video can help scientists on my team better understand the Martian moon’s orbit and how its gravity affects the interior of Mars, including its crust & mantle. go.nasa.gov/3OqRl73
Listen to me being interviewed on my favorite space podcast @SpaceAboveUs. I discuss my route to getting selected, and what it's like to be a newbie in the #astronaut corps.
New Episode! During the previous episode, NASA introduced its largest ever astronaut class. Let's hear about what life as a newbie astronaut is like from someone who was there: @Astro_Tani! Buckle up because this interview is over an hour long! thespaceabove.us 1/2

This week we honor, among others, my pioneers (Ed White, 1st US EVA), my trail-blazers (Ellison Onizuka, 1st Japanese-American astronaut) and my classmates and dear friends (Dave, Lauren, Willie). I'm so honored to call these heroes my colleagues. #NASARemembers
Each January NASA pauses to honor members of the NASA family who lost their lives while furthering the cause of exploration and discovery, including the crews of Apollo 1 and space shuttles Challenger & Columbia. Please join us in remembering these fallen heroes. #NASARemembers
Very honored and surprised that my interview was a top moment of 2021 on the excellent #VoicesOfExchange podcast. shar.es/aWEKMu

Go JWST!!!
Webb is off to #UnfoldtheUniverse!🚀
Six hours after liftoff, @NASAWebb will be about halfway to the Moon.
The day after launch, teams will hand off from the @NearSpaceNet to the Deep Space Network as the spacecraft races six times higher in altitude than geosynchronous orbit.

I was proud to perform the deploy of this outstanding satellite - representing the world of thousands of students around the world!
Good morning, STARSHINE 2!
#OTD in 2001, STARSHINE 2 was deployed from a canister in the payload bay of the Space Shuttle Endeavour (STS-108). Students from 26 countries helped polish the satellite's 845 mirrors and tracked the satellite as it orbited the Earth.

Look who I bumped into on the 20th anniversary of our first launch! @CaptMarkKelly and I were the rookies on STS-108 so it’s an important moment in both our lives. Great to see him tonight.

So honored to call these 3 HOFers "colleague", "friend" and (in Pambo's case) "CDR". Could not have a better set of inductees. Congratulations LA, Grumpy & Pambo!
Congratulations to @CommanderMLA, @Astro_Pam, and @StationCDRKelly who have now been officially inducted into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame! 👨🚀👩🚀👨🚀
Join us tomorrow at 11 AM for an exclusive selfie event with our 2020 inductees.

Dr O'Donoghue is one of the best science communicators I know. He answers questions I didn't know I had! He simultaneously entertains and informs - with the emphasis on entertains! Great to see him getting the attention he deserves!
