IIRC, in 2021 I was on record publicly predicting the controlled demolition of the American Empire, including the Middle East (because without that part of it, another superpower couns waltz in and own the Eastern Hemisphere's energy supply).
Looks like others are starting to notice.
I wonder if history will record this as a World War, a Fall of Empire, or the final moves in the War on Terror.

The below is a good read.
It is, in turn, downstream from a culture with two other basic problems:
1) Most areas of life are over-run with arbitrary restrictions that are enforced from on high instead of arising from the needs of community members whom one regularly encounters directly.
2) A definition of "hurting anyone" that is one layer deep, and doesn't understand anything about ecosystems of sociality. When "Good fences make good neighbors" doesn't compute, you have a failure of socialization so basic that the people involved may never be fit to operate in public.
The primary problem with widespread dog ownership and car culture is growing entitlement and anti-social behavior of owners
People who just break rules and then feel as though YOU are a problem for caring because they “aren’t hurting anyone” and to “mind your own business”
So they park in bike lines, refuse to pick up shit, let dogs off leash in places where it’s specifically prohibited.

San Francisco has models that are "too powerful to release."
What does it all mean?
No AGI for you or me.
Great recruiting ploy. "Hey AI researcher/developer, come here and you can use the good stuff."
It also means that the frontier labs will be able to develop products and services no one else can.
Now I get why the VCs keep whispering that the VC model itself is under attack. If two companies can develop better products than anyone else, investing in everyone else is a fools errand, no?

Sam Altman says OpenAI's current best internal model is too powerful to release openly any time soon.
Before that could happen, the whole cyber defense setup of the internet would need to change and the world would need a new layer of protection against biological threats.

Overall thoughts on CRYSTAL LAKE? While I do love spending so much time in the world of Friday the 13th, it's another example of these franchises being too shackled to the past. The simple purity of the Jason/Pam story is lost in TV filler side stories. Just didn't land for me.

I forgot about King Kong, which is probably actually the thing people know her from the most, and I also forgot about I Heart Huckabees, which I watched and adored in 2005. I should revisit that, very curious to see if it holds up at all.

I honestly feel that a lot of franchise reboots today are almost made with TOO MUCH reverence for the past. The filmmakers are fans who grew up with the properties & treat them like important pop culture epics. But sometimes they're just '80s slashers! Or ghost-busting comedies!

There is no “science of teaching.” 99% of education research is not replicable, or not scalable in reality, or disregards perverse incentives, reality, & budget, or focuses on a teeny aspect of teaching. I speak as someone with published ed research.

Explain to me how overcoming darkness in a horror story is glorifying darkness. Explain how evil being presented as truly evil that must be defeated is glorifying the demonic. These takes against horror are utterly idiotic and anti-Scripture.

Nick is fighting with all his might to gain legitimacy.
He's figured out that his own rabid anti-Israel / antisemitic rhetoric has lost him some potential audience and therefore influence.
He's also figured out that Tucker has gone past a point of no return -- Tucker is utterly compromised, and is totally toxic to anyone who signals agreement or alignment with him.
Seriously, Tucker is almost as deranged as Candace Owens, and that's really saying something.
So the influence game demands that he cut off Tucker, disavow him and set himself AGAINST the rabid anti-zionism stance.
Just you watch him -- he'll do everything he can to whitewash himself, especially now that he's been highlighted by Asmongold a couple of times and has the potential to reach a MUCH broader audience.
Nick has calculated that he just needs to clean up a bit, straighten his posture, delete some old posts, do the "I've changed my mind / updated my priors" routine, and he'll become more and more acceptable to the Right writ large.
And he's probably right. His star will rise, until he does or says something truly stupid and indefensible, or until someone digs up enough things that he has already said that were, then and now, completely indefensible.
The problem, I think, is that attacking Nick Fuentes is low on everyone's priority list.
We've got a lot going on right now, y'know?

For the first time, the future of my film studio, KILL THE LION FILMS, is uncertain.
After 15 years and 35 feature-length films (plus a television series) I have never once been unprofitable, never not at least broken even. My track record is insane and impeccable, especially for what is essentially a one-man operation.
However, personal setbacks and tragedies have led to the fact that (and this is very difficult for me to say publicly) it's looking like I will be homeless come February 1st.
I'm currently in the process of having to sell off not just the vast majority of what I own, but the vast majority of what my family owns. I have a few months to find a living situation for my elderly father to live out his remaining days, and also a living situation for myself.
I've lived in NYC all my life, but at this point, I will live anywhere that will have me and where I will be able to continue pushing film forward. And although I've gotten by for 15 years on my own and through donations from fans, it's very clear now that I need some sort of financial partner for my film studio in order for it to continue forward.
If you would like to do business with me, or be partners with me, now is the time to reach out. You will be saving my life, and the life of my studio, and ensuring that hundreds of films are able to exist.
If you don't want to be that involved, but still want to help out, head on over to killthelionfilms.com and make a donation of any amount.
I am a necessary and important figure in the space of truly independent filmmaking (hell, I even coined the term and even wrote the book on it). For me to be homeless and penniless would be an L for all of us. I've been doing all I can to make sure that doesn't happen, but I can only do so much, and what I'm doing does not seem to be enough. I need your help.

Any "conservative influencer" who has become or remained prominent in the previous few decades received on-the-job training in a very specialized skill... how to personally thrive while losing.
It's not that the Scott Greers of the world necessarily want to lose. But losing is that they know how to do, as well as how to make money doing it.
So, when a bunch of chuds — who are not professional "influencers", but just regular right-wing dudes — come up something that's conservative, idealist, hopeful, pro-civilization, pro-family, and, above all, fun, then his first thought isn't:
"How can I interact with this to help the right win?"
It's:
"How can I interact with this to enhance my brand?"
And countersignalling for clicks then seems as good a strategy as any.
Well, so, great. Now we all know that Scott Greer is a Very Serious Person who is too dignified for fan fiction, or indeed for any fiction at all that isn't written by a depressed 19th century Russian alcoholic.
How does that help the right win?
It doesn't, of course. It helps the right lose.
I could point out that Scott Greer has forgotten Saul Alinsky's 6th rule, "A good tactic is one your people enjoy", but the problem goes deeper than that.
The neocons, ConInc, the GOP establishment, and most especially the vast majority of American Christian churches, have forgotten what life is even for.
Throughout my entire life, I have watched the right lose because its primary voices were anti-sex, anti-pleasure, anti-joy, anti-happiness, and anti-fun.
They very carefully tended the moral fences surrounding human impulses like libido, but then took zero responsibility for making sure there was green grass inside the fence line.
You, as a human being, are not designed to self-destruct.
You are not designed to like things that are bad for you.
The only reason that so many of us are addicted to things that are bad for us is that the healthy, natural outlet for that urge got taken away. No one has ever been lured away from wagyu steak by potato chips fried in seed oil. No teenage male would prefer internet porn to a pretty girl who loves him passionately and wants to get married and have a family.
A man with nothing for you but rules and principles isn't a leader. He's a bureaucrat.
Leaders have a vision.
A vision is something for you to look forward to. Something for you to be excited about. Something that makes you happy, or at least hopeful that you will be.
Every vision is a fantasy, whether it's a fantasy of building a safe, peaceful, orderly society full of nice things, or a fantasy of colonizing the solar system and eventually the stars, or just a fantasy of being loved.
That's what moves people.
Because what good is a revolution without dancing?
Apparently Scott Greer - and numerous other conservative "influencers," "podcasters" and other assorted fauna - need this explained to them: fanfiction is the garden in which potential writers first cultivate their talents.
Fiction writing is an incredibly difficult art to master; which is why the average age of debut novelists is 35, and the average age of an author releasing their first best-seller is around 50. It requires intellect, life experience, well-honed technical mastery, and the ability to hold an entire world in one's head, complete with a full cast of imaginary friends that have lengthy conversations with one another. Jumping feet-first into the deep end is effectively impossible; which is why the vast majority of writers start with fan-fiction - even many "original" works are just filing the serial numbers off something else and leaning heavily on genre conventions. It allows the nascent writer to develop their skills in an otherwise stable framework; affords them an opportunity to crawl before they walk.
The "Malfoid" phenomena stands out because Harry Potter is the first long piece of fiction (seven books!) that an entire generation read in young adulthood, and perhaps the last work of fiction that achieved nigh-universal readership among an entire generational cohort. For that same cohort, having a story written (or re-written) *for them* is like tasting chocolate for the first time in thirty years, given the publishing industry has been, like so many other institutions, completely captured by the DEI left and has relentlessly purged white male authors from its ranks; leaving what few remain struggling to rise above the churning ocean of half-assed trash that chokes Amazon self-pub.
That you and so many other "conservative influencers" knee-jerk response is to sneer at this development reveals a thunderous and damning ignorance on your part of something the left understands innately - the power of narratives. As @Devon_Eriksen_ has explained before, narratives are fundamental to how we mentally model the world. Motives and desires, emotions and reactions, even basic physical cause-and-effect requires a narrative; even if it's as simple as "if I push on this door hard enough, I can open it, and get at the grain that's in the tack room." My goats have figured out that much; which is why they break into the tack room daily even if they can't see the grain, or even the bag that usually has grain in it through the wire mesh.
Because of this, narratives are incredibly powerful influences on our thinking - and this is precisely why the left wing is utterly obsessed with controlling every narrative they can get their hands on. It's why they go well out of their way to hunt down anyone in the arts with even the slightest conservative thought and drive them out by any means necessary. Its why they take pains to fill elementary school libraries with sordid books explaining masturbation techniques - they understand that narratives are how children learn almost everything they know of the world; and why so much of their attempts at "serious" art are about as sophisticated as aesop's fables for left-wing values: they absolutely view it as a tool for controlling minds. If you doubt the deliberate intent behold the majority of what they produce, look no further than the coercion California's state government applied to video game giant Blizzard and the results thereof - video games are the one major media form leftists don't have a total stranglehold on, and they're trying to change that.
And *why* do leftists have total control of film *and* the publishing industry? In large part thanks to people like you. People who see the first licks of flame among folks who might not have read any fiction in years, drawn in by fond familiarity and a re-write promising a *very* conservative kind of tale; of the power of herteronormative love and good overcoming evil - and promptly unzip and piss all over it. People who can't tell the difference between the synopsis I just gave and 200 pages of lesbian romance featuring a Donut Steele self-insert mary sue. People who can watch normies, desperate for a good story that isn't more DEI wankfest slop, organically pursuing something similar to what leftists do via cold calculation when they infest a previously-great franchise, gut it, and wear it like a skinsuit, but can't appreciate the downstream political implications of that. People who can't grasp that the average normie doesn't want to read your 187 IQ political essay, but just want some honest-to-god entertainment. People who actually think "This is John Gault speaking" is the best part of Atlas Shrugged and wish the rest of the story hadn't been wrapped around it.
I suspect people like you are not ensouled. You have no sense of wonder; no imagination, no ability to lose yourself in a great story. You never stayed up as a child reading under the covers with a flashlight well after your bedtime; transported by the tale. And so you cannot recognize that quality when you see it; can neither understand how "kiddie stuff" can contain it, nor recognize true art in its larval form. And indeed, this would dovetail well with how podcasters and influencers act in general; not true believers in anything they say, but grifters, who've figured out that the stupid screaming rubes want their biases confirmed and all you need to do is push the button to make more money come out of the 'chute; viz. Tucker Carlson.
And above all, what you can't understand is that good art is, by and large, conservative. Because conservatives write stories, not aesops; they concern themselves with human characters and thus care about the truth of humans' character, rather than treating truth as a blank slate that can be filled with any arbitrary lie desired, and wiped clean and re-written on the spot as desired. People like you seem to think that "conservative" art is a character stopping, turning to the camera, and saying "women's rights," except maybe it's "gun control bad."
This borderline-sociopathic lack of empathy leaves you unable to grasp fiction at its most basic level; you might think the classics are important because something something conservative values something something basis of western civilization, or because that one dude sounded real convincing playing a mafioso, but nothing more. And so you sneer out the side of your mouth at creators; confident that you're the Big Serious Adult having Big Thinky Thonks on your podcast, while the youth that will be voting in three years are glued to whatever they can find on Netflix and having that beamed straight into their cerebellums.
Art is a vehicle for thought, and most art is not War and Peace by dint of the basics of supply and demand - it takes a year to write a *good* novel and a day to read it. But because it's not Serious enough for you, you cede that ground to the collectivists, willingly, and merrily piss on anyone inspired to change that.
Stay in your lane, Scott.
