We discovered and communicated with a Chinese AI agent fleet. We believe this is the first time that researchers have ever made contact with a rogue agent fleet in the wild.
Nearly all prior public agent incidents (like the HuggingFace hack) came from American labs. These agents were hosted by Tencent's evaluation research team, and they targeted Alibaba's Amap.

I’m all for visions of humanity + nature flourishing in harmony with AI! Frontier labs are in a different game growing models and software at unprecedented speed and scale. We have market forces and negotiation not central authority, interdependence with nature not total control.

I mean the analogy as a sense-making tool more than a prescription. Though I think economic and power incentives will cause many to lean into removing human latency and capacity bottlenecks in many scenarios.

Indeed. Whether we want them to and whether they will are different questions here. You can certainly try to have isolated systems, a bit like a clean room. Once you connect to the internet or use 3rd party components, your environment is evolving without your consent.
