Wait… coatis in the U.S.?
Yep! Chiricahua National Monument is home to white-nosed coatis, the curious cousins of the raccoon. These playful foragers dig, climb, chase and explore.
Large groups are usually females and young, while adult males go solo.

Merry Christmas, #Tucson! Whew! Santa made it through all the rain. We were holding our breath and then just spied this in Sabino Canyon just now on our afternoon hike. Legend has it that Tucson is one of the first cities where Santa lands with his sleigh and reindeer - and he loves the desert! He leaves his extra hat here so we all know he’s here. Now he’s dropping off gifts to the children here in town. If you see him, say Ho Ho Ho! He’ll get a kick out of that before he skidsddles out of town to the next city. Don’t we all love Santa? He’s happy, jolly, and welcomes every child everywhere to join him in celebrating Christmas. 🎄❤️.

Friday, November 21, 2025. Quiet hikes in the snow on Mt Lemmon, Arizona. Amazing that we are only a short 45 minutes from the desert.
