The push toward anti-abortion efforts appears to be part of a plan to increase Americans who can be treated as disposable people. Empires use disposable people to populate armed forces and keep worker wages low/exploitable. Consider this on sex education & pregnancy prevention.

The re-framing of Likely's Ravens' career (and exit) has become even more absurd than the Mike McDonald stuff. The Ravens offered Likely $14 million a year (3 times) coming off a season in which he had 27 catches for 307 yrds! He is now getting paid $13 million per by the Giants.

The "rich are fleeing high-tax states" story doesn't hold up, per Fortune.
The states with the most progressive tax systems, including California and New York, have the highest concentration of millionaires in the country, per a Fiscal Policy Institute analysis of IRS data.
And their millionaire populations have grown since 2010.
When California raised its top tax rate to 13.3% in 2012, critics warned the rich would leave.
About 138 did. That's 0.04% of the 312,000 people hit by the tax, per a Stanford-led study.
"Taxes aren't really high enough for them to be sensitive."

Roy is doing his deed as an HBCU alumnus! He could easily have moved on his comedy career and taken his fame from The Daily Show, his general radio work, Ricky Smiley's Morning Show (airing his prank phone calls), and Have I Got News for You and just become another guy that went to an HBCU.
But instead he has continued to engage not just as a Florida A&M alumnus but as an HBCU alumnus. He makes jokes that make us laugh regarding HBCUs. He extends his platform to uplift HBCU sports.
As HBCU alumni, specifically in media, this is what we're supposed to do. You don't have to own an HBCU outlet to do this either. This is all we want
Thank you for this Roy. I know you're probably not going to see this quote tweet but thank you

He ended up giving me an impromptu tour. Read about it here: nymag.com/intelligencer/arti…

Name another academic field that is judged on whether or not it appropriately valorizes its object of study.
So, my colleague @RickKahlenberg has been in a fight with the entire academic field of American Studies, which feels relevant to all the recent discussions about why academia has lost the public's trust. 🧵
