Catching up on Profi magazine reading @mervyn_bailey this evening. The @lelyrobotman Sphere adds further weight to my theory that dairy farms are fertilizer plants that produce milk as a byproduct @CallansCows @DarraghScott

Irish grown tillage crops have been shown to have significantly lower carbon footprints than many imported feed ingredients. Yet Bord Bia’s flagship sustainability programme, Origin Green, still seems unable to meaningfully reward farmers for using them. How does that make sense?

I may have to adjust my calculations. On the other hand, cut 1.2m cube of wood (sawed and blocked) in about an hour yesterday.
Some rough figures on firewood. 1000kg of kiln dried wood generates 14 gigajoules 1000kg is starting at about €100 so €1000 gives you about 140 gigajoules (seems a bit high but maths is maths) Wood however is totally renewable so environment does need to take a hit

I was worried the vol osr was going to take over but the peas and vetch are starting to dominate now. Barley could be looking for a pgr next May 🤞 #covercrops #arableireland
Reckon the cover crop/ vol osr has a GAI of 2.5!

No evidence of tillage now. More proof of a great autumn for growth than anything
Hard to spot right now which got tillage and which didn’t. @agronomistag getting that legume plus another (brassica and rye in this case) cover crop pumping

I always try to buy Irish dairy pork and beef products, so just wondering do ye dairy pork and beef farmers ask for irish grain when ye are buying feed or does it even matter to ye ? Not trying to have a pop just wondering what the thinking is out there 🤷

Green and amber & gold it grows When the sun sinks late in the West And the breeze sweeps over the rippling rows Where the quail and the skylark nest Mountain or river or shining star Theres never a sight can beat Away to the skyline stretching far A sea of the ripening Wheat
