Schools closed by @UKLabour's education tax are being bought by private equity firms & repurposed as private SEND schools, funded by the taxpayer.
Previously, these schools cost the taxpayer nothing. Now, we're covering the cost of displaced pupils & paying private equity firms.
More than 70 independents closed their doors last year, unable to weather the storm of VAT on fees and rising costs. But what actually happens to the buildings? thetimes.com/life-style/prop…
Hi @wsu, in case you haven't seen it, journalist @jfkeeler has raised serious questions about the claims of one of your professors, Emily Van Alst, being Native American. Keeler's research shows she isn't, and this doesn't help your students.

It grieves me to read this. I was present at the very birth of @The_Globe; the literal ground-breaking and inauguration of my Guinness World Record @GWR with Prince Philip, Sam Wanamaker, and a host of celebrities. I applaud the fact that it receives no taxpayer subsidy, but it has veered drastically away from the educational ethos of Patrick Spottiswoode, and the artistic vision of Mark Rylance. Audiences want artistic excellence over and above social engineering and political education. And children should absolutely not be discriminated against just because they attend a private school.
This is the least of it. The Globe’s productions have gone off a cliff. It has been the better part of a decade since anything outstanding was staged there. telegraph.co.uk/money/consum…

I oppose President Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on the purchase of diesel from Russia. I was a cosponsor of the Russian sanctions law, which the President recently signed but is now not following.

Charging some children more than others is petty & divisive.
Why should a millionaire’s child who has access to an excellent state-funded school receive special treatment over a bursary student who lives in social housing, just because of their school?

I’ve already agreed to be an original cosponsor. Congress must make a stand.
We will be introducing bipartisan legislation to block any and all purchases of Russian oil. It will be called the “Ronald Reagan Peace Through Strength Act.” It will be forced to the Floor via discharge and it will pass overwhelmingly. #PeaceThroughStrength

As she says, it kicks you when you're down. The bureaucracy and random fines for grieving families are going to get much worse now pensions are coming in.

Russia and Iran thrive on chaos, bankroll terror and exploit Western weakness. Ukraine and Israel are on the front line, fighting for the freedoms we take for granted. They are the good guys. The free world cannot abandon them

The reason we think that, is that every actual tax policy is aimed at exactly those people.

Whatever we think of President Trump‘s moves overseas, none is as disappointing as our failure to support Ukraine. Russia brutally sneak attacked them, slaughtering civilians. But Ukraine survives. Fuck Putin. Zelenskyy has stopped him in his tracks.
Slava Ukraini.

Trumps unnecessary war with Iran is the cause of higher diesel and gas prices in the US, not Ukraine.
Trump blaming Zelenskyy is both empirically wrong and morally disgusting.
Better still, let's end the war in Iran that is causing the shortage of diesel fuel...
It is sickening that the USA is now lifting sanctions on Russian fuel, and transparently ridiculous to blame Ukraine for the spike in prices that obviously began with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Putin is murdering innocent Ukrainian civilians every day. The Ukrainians are fighting for their lives. And yet the White House is apparently determined to force American drivers to bankroll Putin’s slaughter. It won’t work and I doubt it will make much difference to the price of fuel.
If we want Russian oil and gas back on the world market then let’s end this war - with a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine.
AnthonyPerry retweeted
We are now allied with Russia to lower the price of diesel that is sky high because of our war against Iran, who is being supported by…. Russia
Do i have that right?

When we said we would stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes, we meant it. And here’s another example of that in action 🇬🇧🇺🇦
🇺🇦🤝🇬🇧 British defense companies now have a permanent platform in Kyiv.
Kyiv Business Centre opened with UK Government support under the 100-Year Partnership, focused on industry, innovation, and investment.
Deputy Minister of Defence Anna Gvozdiar: “A place where British companies can find Ukrainian partners more quickly, understand the real needs of the defense industry and launch new projects together with us.”

So this administration is now funding the enemy???? How is this ok. Where is the outrage from the GOP???? It disgusts me. Russian targeting caused many US casualties in the Iran war that is not over. Russia is Irans ally. They will use our money to attack Ukraine and the US. This must be stopped.

President Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Russian fuel amidst Putin’s ongoing and brutal attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine makes no sense and is a betrayal of the legacy and leadership of the late Senator Lindsey Graham.
While Ukraine fights for its survival, Putin’s war machine continues to prosecute his terrorist war on civilian populations and innocent Ukrainians are dying every day.
Now, Instead of implementing the tough sanctions Lindsey Graham fought to his last breath to enact, President Trump has announced the United States is lifting sanctions on Russian energy, fueling the Putin’s war machine.
As I saw firsthand in Ukraine last month, Putin is losing this war. Ukraine has fought the Russian military to a standstill and reinvented warfare with drones taking the fight into the heart of Russia.
America should not be throwing a lifeline to Putin’s war machine. Now is the time to stand strong against Russian aggression as we did during the first Trump administration.
Putin doesn’t want peace. Putin wants Ukraine. I have no doubt that if Putin overruns Ukraine, it will only be a matter of time until Russia’s military crosses a border that our troops will have to deal with him.
America is the Leader of the Free World. For our National Security, for the security of our Allies in Europe including Ukraine, President Trump should rescind this deal immediately and return to the strong policies of our four years in the White House; impose harsh sanctions on any nation purchasing Russian energy and work with our allies to ensure Ukraine has the military support it needs to repel and defeat this Russian invasion once and for all. Slava Ukraini🇺🇸🇺🇦
So let me get this straight, @realDonaldTrump... You've told us that America has won the war in Iran and that oil is flowing through the Straight of Hormuz, yet you can't get diesel fuel in the US and prices are high. So, you make a deal with Russia?

We definitely shouldn’t. But the popularity of VAT on school fees was repeatedly used to justify it. I can’t see why it’s not fair game for IHT
