Why I like Twitter. Good thread.
Lots of talk on twitter about converting office to multi-family. One of the reasons why these conversions are impractical is post-tensioned concrete slabs. PT is an engineering marvel. It allows thinner floors, longer spans, and saves a bunch of $ 1/4

Great thread.
PART 20: FACTOR AWARE INVESTING 2/2 In my prior thread I walked through the basics of factor mismatches. Let’s have fun with numbers. I put this together quickly - I welcome criticism. In short, factor mismatches are so significant that they often dwarf stock selection alpha.

Great thread. IMO, accurate.
Let me walk you through what the nature of this quant quake really was. HFs have been grossing up but keeping nets low. The gross leverage is a function of the decline in both rate vol and eqty realized vol (as well as implieds, lower vix - (for portfolio margin haircuts). 1/10

Something I’ve been pondering - the single biggest advantage that startups have over incumbents is probably the willingness to take insane reputational risks I usually avoid discussing Tesla on Twitter, but Tesla in the early 2010s might be the best example of this ever

Very important thread
Early in my career, I consulted for Coke to ensure sugar taxes failed and soda was included in food stamp funding. I say Coke's policies are evil because I saw inside the room. The first step in playbook was paying the NAACP + other civil rights groups to call opponents racist

These $BYND numbers are tough to fathom. I thought -10% gross margin. Were -18%. They sold 12% less volume and charged 12% less per pound. Inflation is dead for BYND consumers! The biggest dumpster fire for a non-fraudulent biz I have seen. Q1 chapter 11?

For Gen X'ers like me, The Last Folk Hero: The Life and Myth of Bo Jackson is a great book. Strongly recommend.
Phillies up 2 games to 1 in WS. Eagles 7-0. Sixers and Flyers playoff teams. Will this be the biggest year for Philly sports or the biggest letdown? Either way, I am sure Philly fans will react with the equanimity for which they are famous.
Great thread
$META stock is taking a beating. As an advertising agency, we've spent millions on the platform on behalf of ourselves and our clients. Here are 3 things Zuck & co need to focus on to win back investors' hearts and minds (#3 is one not many folks are talking about) 👇

Very interesting. I wonder if there is a positive feedback effect as well. No need to make reservations when not filled and vice versa. Or is actual tables served also up/down same?
OpenTable reservations this month, compared with same day in 2019

Esoteric question: Does anyone have legal/regulatory document as to why options on MLPs are taxed as 1256 contracts if bot/sold for cash? So, if I buy call option on $ET for $1 and then sell for $3 (w/o exercising), why is this $2 gain 1256 contract gain?

I know it falls under 1256(B)(1)(c) ("Nonequity Options"), but does anyone have a reg ruling or legal explanation as to why options on MLPs are nonequity options?

$BYND now giving the product away (massive discounting). They discounted so much, the GROSS profit is ZERO. The CEO is delusional. His comments in the PR are madness. He is going to drive this car off the cliff full speed. He is not even going to try to slow the cash burn.
Very good article related to $MX giving a peak inside "Korea Inc."
An industry official said, “I know that Chairman Koo’s will to acquire MagnaChip is great.” $MX archyde.com/tears-from-the-k…

$BTI Anyone know the precise numbers on $BTI Newport? CNBC says Newport has 66% mkt shr; Altria 26%; Imperial (Kool) 8%. I have found that menthol about 37% of the 200mm total sticks sold in U.S. This would be about 49bn newport sticks versus their total U.S. sticks of 70bn.

I would have thought that Camel and other BTI brands were bigger. Anyhow, this translates into about 7bn GBP of revenue and given higher-than-average margin, about 30% of their global profits.
