New research shows 1.7 million people could be living with dementia in England and Wales by 2040. That’s over 40% more than previously thought. This is a stark reminder that, without action, the individual and economic devastation caused by dementia shows no sign of stopping.

I love this Dara. We get a lot of questions about how we involve people with dementia, carers and other partners in co-designing our services. This is a lovely example.
Ending the week feeling v excited about the potential digital services to reaching more people affected by dementia & deepen our impact. Thank you to our partners The Public Service Consultants & the 80 plus people affected by dementia who contributed to shaping the roadmap. 💙

It’s common knowledge that Alois Alzheimer gave his name to Alzheimer’s disease. But few people know about the African scientist who worked alongside him. Or of the challenges Black people with dementia face now. #BlackHistoryMonth bit.ly/3S5OQvj

In shock to hear that Tony Husband has passed away from a heart attack 😢 he's done phenomenal work to raise awareness of #Dementia, and we were incredibly excited to welcome him to Liverpool next week. Very sad news 😞 bbc.com/news/uk-england-lanc…

We won’t allow people with dementia living in care homes to fall to the bottom of the pile. Care home residents are real people, not just numbers. Here is why we are campaigning to the government for daily coronavirus data on care homes: alzheimers.org.uk/news/2020-…

Lots of talk in today’s press briefing about PPE. For those who can make it, or have some to donate (school, colleges, Hardware stores etc etc) this website can link you to those near you in need of it.

I just heard from one of our amazing @alzheimerssoc Dementia Advisers who’d been delivering food parcels to a 97-year-old man, living alone with dementia, because he’d been trying to survive on cereal. At a time like this, charities are providing life-or-death support.
