This weekend my mom said she no longer recognized me as the woman she raised me to be. That’s probably true - I speak in church now and eschew patriarchy. Praying last night & lamenting God told me I’m becoming the daughter He raised me up to be. And that is no small thing.
I met the height requirement for a ride but I didn’t apparently meet the “not a string bean” requirement. Pre puberty. I was slipped between the over the head bars so I spent the whole ride gripping them like a koala, one shoulder out, butt no longer touching the seat.
I halfway fell out of one once. The bar that went across us/held us in chunked forward a little and I had to bear hug it until the ride was over. When the dude at the end was pulling some lever that released everyone else’s bar, he got to mine and looked concerned and just pushed on it a little (the bar, not the lever) and it fell the rest of the way forward.
When I got out, he put an out of order sign where I had been sitting.
I already hated roller coasters lol but after that I decided not to be peer pressured into riding them anymore.
He was 18 when he got his drivers license. Mom was too busy for well over a year. Finally one of the other dads took him to the dmv “to take a practice test” and he just paid for him to get his license.
Brianna’s fella now has his license and a job and has looked at four used cars and his mother has said no every one. At some point he’s doing to realize he’s a full blown adult and go from “can I?” To “Mom, I bought myself a car” and I will be very happy.
The Homeschool’s fundie world is a strange strange place. On one had we are collectively totally fine with 20 year olds getting married but on the other hand we want to utterly cripple our children when it comes to launching. Super weird sometimes.
One of my daughter’s long time friends is getting engaged and her fiancé ordered a custom ring. Super pretty. Very western silver with turquoise bracketing the diamond. It looks perfect for her and for them.

A big shout-out to Eric (@Ineverglow) for making this wonderful graphic for me! I only added the orange arrow & markings.

I am very, *very* proud of this piece. It's an album review, but it's much bigger than that. I would be deeply honored if you gave it a read.
(See bio. Tryin' to bypass the al-go.)
My phone reminded me that two years ago Sidney was being cranky pants for like a week or two and then had a weekend off so I took him to a cabin in the woods and basically said we will come back with a better attitude or not at all. 😂
Post a photo of you at 18 - I think these are both 17-19 age range. One was after sand volleyball my senior year. The other first year of college I believe which I started at seventeen into 18 but if it was my sophomore year I was 19.

A Place to Hang the Moon by Kate Albus is not only one of the most poignant, riveting, and deeply satisfying chapter books I’ve ever read to my kids.
It’s one of my favorite books. Period.

I get this 💯. They put the dogs meds in cute little bags at the vets, and yes, I always keep them.
Marriage pro tip - marry someone who KNOWS YOU and still thinks your weird little quirks are adorable.
Let me explain…
Got coffee and breakfast with Sidney when dropping him off to work this morning. The food came in this cute little bag. I said “oh what a cute little bag!”
Fast forward to us filling up the car and him doing his typical trash clear up routine while the tank is filling. “Hand me that trash” he said then immediately “or just what’s in the bag since I know you want to keep the cute little bag” with an indulgent knowing smile.
One of my favorite songs ever done in a very unique way. Best rendition I ever heard was in person with Moscow Chamber Orchestra & saxophone soloist.
