But the Trump proposal will save all taxpayers with investments (including pension investments) and real estate taxes -- taxes on inflation, which benefits tens of millions of middle class Americans. In an opinion piece in The Hill, Glenn Farley explains, in part: "When you sell an asset that has risen in price, the IRS taxes the gain. But that gain is measured against the price you paid, not your true cost. If you bought a stock, a bond, or a business many years ago, and its price merely kept pace with inflation, you are no richer in purchasing power than the day you bought it — yet the tax code treats the difference as income and taxes it anyway. This is especially noticeable in periods of high inflation, like the last five years. It is a tax on rising prices, dressed up as a tax on profit."

I care about long-term earnings growth which drives P/E. Per Bloomberg, $TSLA consensus EPS growth from 2026-2030 is +35%. This includes both FSD and Optimus. The right P/E for TSLA assuming a normal megacap PEG of 2x is 70x. Putting 70x on TSLA 2030 consensus EPS of $7.75 which includes both FSD and Optimus gets me $542 in 2030. Discounting back to 2026 at a 14.7% cost of equity assuming today’s 10-year TY of 4.5%, a 6% ERP, and a beta of 1.7x equals $315 fair value. For me to be interested I need a roughly 20% discount to fair value so about $250.

The question for $MU coming into last night’s earnings was not how big the memory-chip boom is, but how long it can last. The correct answer appears to be: Longer than anyone originally thought.
Perhaps the most important number from last night’s report was 16 -- the number of long-term supply deals Micron has locked in, guaranteeing approximately $100 billion in revenue. That eases fears that the current sky-high prices and margins are unsustainable.
Micron said that once all the supply deals are executed, agreements with either fixed prices or price ceilings close to current levels are expected to represent around 40% of its revenue. Meanwhile, the contracts also come with price floors which the company says will enable gross margins "well above" its peak in any past cycle.
MU skeptics have long worried that the current memory chip shortage was causing memory chip prices to remain artificially elevated. Last night’s earnings commentary and conference call showed management’s conviction that this AI cycle is uniquely sustainable to keep memory chip prices high through at least 2030. If that’s true, at 9x 2027 Adj EPS of $135, $MU at its pre-mkt indication of $1,220 still looks cheap.
