Such a pleasure and honor to meet with HE @MamaRachelRuto - wonderful visionary, inspiring thought leader, passionate about youth, women's empowerment, climate and education! Looking forward to continuing working together.
Education plays a critical role in exploring potential and opportunities in the green economy while building linkages between education and climate action.
First Lady @MamaRachelRuto met with Dr. Liesbet Steer, President and CEO of the Education Development Center, on the sidelines of UNGA 78 in New York City, USA, to discuss collaboration in education, including the upcoming COP 28.
See @Kevin_Watkins_ paper on the role school meals can play in addressing food system, climate and education challenges, investment is a no brainer @EDCtweets
The Guardian view on free school meals
Britain could - and should - do more, at home and on the international stage
And the Guardian is right.

#SierraLeone is right to invest in school meals, see @Kevin_Watkins_ new paper on how it can address food systems, climate and education challenges edc.org/sites/default/files/… @EDCtweets
#SierraLeone expanded its budget to education during covid and the global food crises. A major impact was that we expanded our school feeding program to cover more children. Thanks to @PresidentBio's vision of HCD, school meals embody that nexus- education, health, economy, etc.
#Rwanda and Mr Twagireyezu are pioneers in expanding school meals, see @Kevin_Watkins_ and @EDCtweets new paper on the role of school meals for food systems, climate and education edc.org/sites/default/files/…
#Rwanda says it's expanding #SchoolMeals, now reaching 3.8M children thru a budget of $74M.
At #SchoolMeals Coalition session Min. of State Mr. Twagireyezu says: “Rwanda continues to expand & leverage #SchoolMeals for #FoodSystems transformation & human capital development.”

Big thanks to @fp2p for running this blog. For anyone who thinks school meals are a peripheral sideshow in food system reform, I hope it will prompt you to think again

School meals are essential to @PresidentBio's agenda. In addition to providing food for 8 boarding schools, and 15+ special needs institutions, we're feeding 748,000 kids nationwide through our partners. 85% of that comes from GoSL basket! We're deep into planning for next year!
