"World Models" are the rage for very good reasons, but then what is the right sensorimotor experience for training these models? With human children, it is a combination of observation (e.g. exocentric video) and physical interaction (play). This paper tackles the problem of learning models from play. Enjoy!
We taught a robot to play! Introducing Dexterity from Supervised Play (DSP): turning minutes of human play into a world model and dexterous manipulation policy. No task demonstrations or sim2real! play-policy.github.io

Affordable access to AI compute is key to enabling innovation at scale. In his remarks at the India programme for World Development Report 2026: The Promise of Artificial Intelligence, Shri @sudeep_tweets, COO, IndiaAI Mission and Joint Secretary, MeitY, highlighted how the Report validates India’s approach to building an accessible AI ecosystem. He emphasised the importance of affordable, subsidised compute access for startups, academic institutions and other stakeholders, while underscoring the need to keep pace with the rapidly evolving AI landscape. #WDR2026 #IndiaAI #AIForDevelopment #MeitY @AshwiniVaishnaw @JitinPrasada @SecretaryMEITY @_DigitalIndia @GoI_MeitY @mygovindia @WorldBankGroup @WorldBankIndia @IFC_AsiaPacific @WBG_Digital

First test of Varya, India’s homegrown distilled video AI model from Bengaluru-based @Avataar (built under the IndiaAI Mission). 20x cheaper and 10x faster than most global options, trained on Indian cultural data. Proud to see something being built at home in India. 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳 @AluruSravanth Right prompt - A tiger walking through the streets of Mumbai at night #NotAnAd

We released varya.avataar.ai on Friday to enable fast, high quality video generation. Varya generates 720p video in 45 seconds on a single H200. Against a 50-step Wan 2.2 baseline under the same cost model, Varya is 27× faster and cheaper, while remaining close on VBench quality. @RajanAnandan @brettsingh @Avataar @shubhamjain_11 @rakesh_vRocky @Re_tot @imGauravB

Varya uses the CA-DM decomposition at sampled exits of a bidirectional video rollout. CA is the prompt-direction signal: it uses the teacher's conditional-unconditional gap to improve semantic alignment and visual detail. DM is the distribution-shape signal: it compares the fake score with the frozen conditional teacher score and stabilizes the student-induced distribution.

The result: Better supervision signals across exits, stronger and stable guidance leading to far better quality in 4 steps v/s other distillation methods. Open weights and technical report will be hosted on AIKosh soon. Thanks to everyone for the encouraging curiosity!
