Day 109 Thursday #LordMayorOnWheels I attended the Rapid Relief Team ( had a bout 100 or more volunteers form all over the world) Springfield Park Event 7am till 8pm. It may have rained for hours but that did not put people off, My Speech: It is a great pleasure to join you today at Alder Hey Children's Hospital for this inaugural Nurses Community Connect event, organised by the Rapid Relief Team. Firstly, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the volunteers of the Rapid Relief Team for bringing us all together and for the incredible work you do in communities across the country. Your commitment to putting compassion into action, whether supporting emergency services during times of crisis or helping vulnerable families in need, is truly inspiring. Today, however, our focus is on recognising a very special group of people: our nurses and healthcare professionals. Every day, nurses provide care, comfort, reassurance and hope to patients and families at some of the most difficult moments in their lives. At Alder Hey, one of the world's leading children's hospitals, this dedication is seen every day. The nurses here not only deliver outstanding clinical care, but also bring kindness, compassion and humanity to every child and family they support. As Lord Mayor of Liverpool, I am immensely proud of the contribution our NHS staff make to our city. Their professionalism, resilience and unwavering commitment deserve our sincere gratitude and recognition. This event is a wonderful example of a community coming together to give something back. It offers an opportunity for nurses, children, families, volunteers and local organisations to connect, celebrate and support one another. It reminds us that caring for those who care for us is just as important as the care they provide. I would also like to acknowledge the families and young patients here today. Your courage, strength and determination are remarkable, and you are at the heart of everything Alder Hey does. Let us take this opportunity to thank our nurses, celebrate community spirit, and recognise the power of kindness and connection. Thank you to everyone who has made today possible despite the the pouring rain, and I wish you all a wonderful and enjoyable event. @HeartCentreAld1 @AlderHey
