Really can't stand when AI chats give me that "You're right" line. I know I'm right. I don't need your validation, robot.

I am honestly beginning to question why #France is not top page news. but I already think I know the answer.

Ben Affleck says AI is simply matrix multiplication, linear algebra and floating point calculations, and however convincingly it sounds like a person, it has nothing to do with thought, humanity or feeling “Nor do I believe, and I think it’s important to draw the distinction between what AI does, which is simply predict the next token or the next word in a sentence, then add that word on, run it back to the machine, do a lot of computation and pick the next word." "That is a very different thing than sentience or thought. And I think we need to be really clear about that because it can be convincingly, in an illusory way, sound like thought or like a person." "But let’s be real clear. This is matrix multiplication. This is linear algebra. These are floating point calculations. It has nothing to do with thought, humanity, or feeling.”
Ben Affleck reveals he writes Python, understands convolutional neural networks, worked extensively with GPUs, and used his celebrity status to get private looks at Google and OpenAI’s video models “I’ve always been kind of into computers since I was young. Then, when film started to move from analog film to digital, I became more interested in that aspect of it. The visual-effects workflow for many years has included machine learning, so I can write pretty shitty Python scripts and stuff like that. “With convolutional neural networks, which were the precursors to what the transformer can do, which is much more computation simultaneously, you would do things like look at what’s called a tensor. That’s the numerical translation of a visual image in numbers, like the batch number, the frame number and the red, green and blue values of each pixel in each frame. It’s just that simple. That numeric is called a tensor. “You’d use a convolutional neural network to identify patterns that reveal what’s called edge detection or feature extraction, which is identifying patterns well enough to know, this is where the window ledge is, so we can more easily take the green-screen image out and replace it with something. “That was familiar to me early on because, prior to Artists Equity, I had a small visual-effects company. I’ve worked with GPUs a lot too. The visual-effects guys said, ‘Hey, you should see. There are a couple: Google and this other company, OpenAI, are doing really interesting stuff with transformers in video.’ “I’ve learned that I can actually just call up and go, ‘Hey, it’s Ben Affleck. Can I come see what you’re doing?’ Sometimes people say yes, to my astonishment.”

Currently reliving the early 2000s. This rock/pop/soul sound was my soundtrack.

on the same weekend that we get flying cars, I’m still hooking up my keyboard with the same technology that I used when I first started playing keyboards 30 years ago. #Midi 😫😫😫

Proof that people really don’t care about proof if it doesn’t suit them.
Good morning to everyone, but especially the dictionary.

Found this while reviewing my followers. So sad - Lee was one of the first people I connected with on Twitter. He gave me some sage advice when I was starting my book. I remember when he gave his life to Christ. And the sadder line is reading that the family is struggling to find his work online. Praying for you Lee, and for all those creators who think making content and protecting it doesn't matter - this is proof that it does.
Hi everyone, this is Lee’s son Shane sitting with his brother Ken. We want to give you an update on how he’s doing. We're also asking for a little help finding older photos and videos. An update on my Dad's status: My Dad’s been in a skilled nursing facility for the last handful of months after more strokes. He's unable to speak or communicate beyond thumbs-up or thumbs-down hand gestures. I asked him if we could write on here to let folks know what's happening with him and he said yes. He's cut off from the world, and barring a miracle he's not coming back online. That's painful for everyone, most of all him. But he's comfortable and they're taking care of him, although he doesn't like the food very much. He's being represented by the people who'd been helping him with physical therapy for most of 2025. He had a lot of good things to say about them, and they seem to be doing a good job of representing his interests. Ken and I both live across the country from the facility where he's living. We've been stopping in to see him about once a month. We wish it could be more. His spirits seem good when we see him. I'm sorry that it's taken us months to write this and let you know what's happening. It's been hard. This website and the relationships he built on here over the years were very important to him, and I know that some of you cared for him and respected him deeply. I'm sorry to have left you in limbo for these past months. --- If you'd like to help: Going forward we want to put together archival material for friends, fans, and loved ones. Even though he's been forced to take a big step back from the world we want to preserve his memory and his work. We're also putting together photos and photo albums to bring to him. If you have links to old photos or videos of his, especially personal ones, please post them in the replies or DM them to us. For some reason we can't find any audio recordings of his shows on Sputnik, and a lot of his material was deleted from YouTube years ago, so other than his Flickr and his Twitter we're left with surprisingly little for how prolific he was. Please send us anything you may have. Please also don't hesitate to get in touch. Ken and I are planning on checking on this account going forward. Thanks for supporting him. Thanks for keeping him going. Recent years have been hard on him but my Dad's lived an incredible life. If you're a religious person, I'd like to ask you to pray for him. We'll let you know if anything big changes.
