Believe it or not, as much as I love blatantly paying homage to beloved horror films, this one was a genuine coincidence 🤡 #terrifier3 #arttheclown

Last year Godzilla Minus One proved it could boast special effects that stood toe-to-toe with Hollywood blockbusters on a comparatively small budget.
This year an indie horror movie proved you could top the box office with an even smaller budget and just great word of mouth.
I could totally see #Terrifier’s #SiennaShaw- played by the excellent #LaurenLaVera- mercilessly brutalising copycat Miles County Clowns on the hunt for the true #ArttheClown in the next film! It’s no longer about a killer and a final girl; it’s all out war between good & evil!
From the lips of Shelly himself…

do you realise we’re currently living in an era where a satirical gore fest à la stuart gordon/brian yuzna tackling beauty standards and a splatter movie straight outta an 1981 video rental store shelf are hot topics and actually doing great at the box office ?
It’s not my favourite franchise by any stretch but no one can deny that Art the Clown is fast becoming an icon!
Heck, wasn’t Terrifier 2 the most profitable film of 2022? Creator-controlled, indie horror should be thriving like this!
Robert has given us horror fans so many great memories and as much as I would love to see more, I want him to look after himself and not try to torture his body further just for our entertainment. He gave us so so much already and more than cemented his place in our hearts.
Robert Englund says he’s simply too old to play Freddy Krueger again in a new NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET film, though he’s got ideas of how he could return to the franchise. dlvr.it/TDwBSs
This!
ALIEN: ROMULUS is an underwhelming offspring of its greatest, more immaculate predecessors.
After a strong opening of tremendous promise, a grimy, industrialist visual aesthetic, & immersive world building, we are thrown into the next hour full of nostalgic fan service, homages, easter eggs, abysmal CGI resurrections, razor thin characters, a goofy, underwhelming final act, & an overall complete lack of tension, scale, or imagination.
David Johnsson is a massive standout, delivering an interesting & complex performance as the synthetic android Andy. While Cailee Spaeny’s Rain is perfectly fine as another wannabe Ripley action heroine.
The anti-gravity sequence is a standout action sequence from a visual standpoint but it’s far more tense & grand in the trailers than in the actual film. The Facehuggers were genuinely creepy which was appreciated but we needed more Xenomorph horror & terrorization.
You can physically feel Disney’s fingerprints all over this, whispering over the shoulders of Fede Alvarez, who has dedicated his entire career to making gross, ultraviolent horror, to create something safe, inoffensive, & unimaginative. It’s much more straightforward than its perplexingly thematic predecessors but it’s also instantly forgettable, middle of the road, & constantly struggles to find its own identity.
It’s the safest, blandest, most sanitized, most tame installment of the franchise yet. #AlienRomulus
I guess I’m going to be in the minority with this opinion but I DIDN’T like #AlienRomulus.
It has a lot of great elements for sure but a dog shit story that leans hard into Resurrection meets Covenant, not to mention far too much fan service.
