Here's a transit success story from @ColoradoDOT's Bustang, an intercity bus service with 13 routes connecting communities across Colorado.
Quick history:
- 2015 launch: 1 trip/day on I-70
- Current: 6-8 trips/day on I-70 & I-25 routes
- Winter 2024: 12-15 trips/day on I-70 & I-25 routes
Service expansion leads to more ridership.
For the I-70 route, 2023 ridership was 68% above 2019 levels! 🙌
Also, the buses can cruise past traffic in the highway Express Lanes, and CDOT is building "mobility hubs" with center-loading to improve travel times (see construction photo).
This is a proven strategy to reduce congestion & transportation pollution.
