Not all of us who made, and stand by, these arguments have done this pathetic 180. I despise these Woke Right jerks. nitter.cf/dennisjsaffran/status/…
As someone who proudly fought against racial preferences I am sickened by the Woke Right "Heritage Americans" who want DEI for their lazy and dumb kids.

New babysitter shared that she coaches a youth soccer team called the Maroon Monsoons, and I appreciate the implied University of Chicago Law School endorsement.

Embracing my new gender identity that just dropped as a woman who wants to bring back dinosaurs. If the problem is the carnivores, open to keyhole solutions like only bringing back stegosauruses, which are the best dinosaurs anyway. N=3, but my daughter, her best friend, and her best friend's sister are all obsessed with dinosaurs and won't stop talking about this web movie series they want to make about them. Progress on said series is compromised mainly by sleepovers not being allowed on school nights. Markets in organs would also be pretty great.
The Hanania survey results are here. My readers are young, rich, and mostly libertarian or progressive. 14% of readers make at least $500K a year, six times the rate of the general public, and 5% make over $1 million. Huge drop off in conservatives since 2022. I had more conservative than progressive readers in 2022, but now that is switched. I disagree with my readers on sex and crime. See a full list of largest disagreements. Sadly, women don't want to bring back dinosaurs. Full results here, along with an interactive web page. richardhanania.com/p/why-don…

We should also explore bringing back ancient charismatic megafauna, who are kinda underrated. Like definitely woolly mammoths, but also the prehistoric equines that are small and have weird feet. Maybe those would appeal more to women because they’re cuter/ better gateway drugs to dinosaurs?

11 y/o just asked me what the word “obelisk” meant. Somewhere, Ben Sasse is cringing. #FedSoc2016 Really just glad he’s still with us.

Take on this I haven’t seen enough: if we’re serious about reversing this, there should be a social norm that if someone is kind enough to host you in their home, you only ever say kind things about their hospitality to others. No getting in the car and saying to your husband “Omg her kitchen is so filthy, I don’t understand why Roger puts up with her.” No calling your sister and spending half an hour declaiming on why you think, based on one ten minute interaction, you feel your hostess’s son’s ADHD diagnosis is fake. And, if you are on the receiving end of such commentary, normalize responding with “I understand that is your opinion, but personally, I think it was lovely of her to open her home to you.”
New newsletter: THE DEATH OF THE AMERICAN HOST The share of Americans who say they host friends or family at their home at least monthly has declined by 70 percent in the last 50 years. derekthompson.org/p/the-deat…

Woke Right guru Curtis Yarvin and Tucker now both openly lamenting that Hitler didn’t win WWII. These people are nuts. (And, ironically, they’re also cheering on the invasion of Islamists, while simultaneously arguing Nazis would be better.)
Every time I’m in the UK I hear this. More and more people asking, subtly or straight out: what would Hitler do? As if it was that easy. Have you looked around you? Man, Hitler wouldn’t even know where to start

Incredible new research from @MichaelTHartney: The Heritage American/Bo French/Woke Right’s position on college admissions is a political loser—even among white Republicans. ONLY 28% of white Republicans said they were worried about campuses becoming “mostly Asian.” Similarly, only 26% of white Democrats expressed concern. Black Americans were the group most worried about a majority-Asian campus, albeit still under 50% were troubled by the prospect. X isn’t real life. And if political candidates treat it like it is, then they’re probably going to lose—and they deserve to.

I have known a handful of people who roughly fit the fullback archetype sketched out here, and all worked harder academically than they let on.
Chris Rufo is literally out here arguing that getting drunk and blowing off tests is Traditional White Culture that needs to be protected from Brown Supremacy It's Robin DiAngelo but with the races swapped

I speak/debate regularly in defense of the principle and have learned the hard way to avoid using the word “meritocracy.” On the one hand, yes, what most people mean by it and what I believe the Constitution and Title VI to require are pretty much the same. On the other, the word has connotations that distract people, and I don’t want to get off on tangents about why I don’t hate virtue. Don’t have full context on what Rufo said here, but entirely plausible he’s being consistent.

*We walk into Italian Store* Her: Mom, this bread has a very appetizing aroma. (Pauses.) I learned the word “aroma” in vocabulary class. Also, they should teach us the rule about jealous and envious in vocabulary class. Me: Yes.
*Explains jealous/envious distinction to 11 y/o* (classmate asserted that her older sisters are jealous of her because classmate and daughter's shared school gives out better binders and has pizza day on Friday) Her: Mom, that sounds really lawyerly.

Coming October 29: The Making of America: A Conversation with Gordon Wood, Part I. Professor Wood, one of the great historians of the American founding, is dearly missed. We were incredibly fortunate to work with him on several projects celebrating America’s 250th anniversary before his passing earlier this year, including what would become one of his final filmed conversations. In this short film, Professor Wood sits down with Prof. Kurt Lash to reflect on America’s founding and the earliest days of our nation. We’re honored to share a preview:

If the last term gave corporations "everything they wanted," why did corporations lose most of the preemption cases?
After a Supreme Court term that gave corporations everything they wanted in the most important cases, a new term offers big business even more opportunities to evade legal constraints. Read our full report: theusconstitution.org/think_…

Am trying to reconfigure old laptop to work for new job and failing miserably. Have several times referred to Windows 11 as Windows 95 today, so not really beating the allegations here.
Am reliably informed that Gail told some of her Manhattan Inst colleagues that ACR recently hired a “young lawyer,” and when she shared my name, got back “But Alison’s not young.” 💀

I acknowledge maybe everyone else figured this out six years ago, but does anyone have advice on how to make the transition to fully remote work after about 15 years almost entirely working out of an office?
