My one Lindsey Graham story: He was a character witness for Sen. Bob Menendez in the first Menendez trial in 2017. Not the one with the gold bars. The one with hookers and flights to the Dominican Republic. Anyway Graham flew to NJ on his own dime and took the stand. He said he and Menendez worked together on immigration reform. Two senators from different parties trying to find a solution to a major national issue. When Sen. Graham was done he walked out of the courthouse like a normal person and talked to reporters like me to explain why he was there. He was open and unafraid of scrutiny. The same day @CoryBooker also testified. Like a coward, Booker snuck into and out of the courthouse through a back entrance, his feet never touching the streets of Newark where he claims to live. Booker took no questions. Sen. Graham may have taken unpopular positions. You may have disagreed with him. But he did his best to explain his positions and his decisions to the public. Because that’s what a US Senator should do. RIP @LindseyGrahamSC.

Yesterday, on America’s 250th birthday, it was my honor to read from the Declaration of Independence alongside neighbors and friends in Robbinsville. Let’s never forget the true meaning behind the Declaration: that government exists only by the consent of the governed, that our nation was founded to protect individual liberty and that our Founding Fathers pledged their own honor before God they would never compromise with tyranny. 250 years of wisdom. 250 years of showing the world what freedom can achieve.
