SO good!
This is easily THE most DEVASTATING clapback I have ever heard, by any candidate, from either party. trump said he wants metal detectors for El-Sayed. El-Sayed says sure, but lie detectors for YOU. First question: EPSTEIN. He is SO good at this.🔥

Last week I posted about Sociopathic Scaling (alexgoodall.substack.com/p/s…...) - how society has an inherent tendency to scale everything without regard for the affect it has on people (the sociopathy). Coming next-an example: Scaling Energy to the equivalent of 708 billion workers.

Oops!
🇺🇸 Pete Hegseth just got absolutely humiliated by Senator Tammy Duckworth! Senator Tammy Duckworth, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel who lost both legs while serving in Iraq, challenged Hegseth: "I'm glad you brought that up. Can you name a single country that belongs to ASEAN and explain what agreement we have with it? And, by the way, how many countries are in ASEAN? Frankly, I'm not sure you even know who our allies are." Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth: "Well, I can't give you the exact number, but I certainly know our allies in South Korea, Japan, and Australia..." Senator Duckworth: "None of the countries you just mentioned are members of ASEAN. I suggest you do your homework before engaging in these discussions." And this is the kind of clueless bullshit running the Pentagon. Absolutely unbelievable.

At least some countries are going in the right direction.
In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump and his family have lost surprise elections, thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.

Amazing! Real passion, beautifully expressed.
I believe this will be considered one of the most important videos in US history from this time.

Either he does it, and won't be able to say anything coherent, or - most likely, he doesn't do it

Nice perspective, although some of them do try very hard.
What will have saved America in the end is that they just weren’t that good at authoritarianism.

That would be tantamount to having a system in place, Mr Goodall. That would be novel for the Trump Regime. Unless disruption and uncertainty count as a system.

"Humanity's downward trajectory started 50,000 years ago" In Part II, I use the idea that Humanity started when we became metaconscious, but this very super-power caused 'importance' to predominate over 'meaning'... which caused the downward trajectory. alexgoodall.substack.com/p/h…

Oh. This is my next task.
If you have a Gmail account, you need to read this. Google’s AI is now rifling through your inbox emails and attachments, bank statements, tax docs, medical letters, the whole stack. It was enabled by default, and that quiet rollout is now facing a class-action lawsuit. Here are 5 steps to turn it off because the kill switch is buried in two different spots:

This is madness...
Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivers a speech for the ages from the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. Listen to the entire speech to understand the dangers the West faces. It's critical to our survival.

I can’t believe we have to say this, but the annihilation of two major American cities — more than 5 million people — is not a “small price to pay” for Trump's illegal war. Neither are the 19 American troops and 3,000+ Iranians who lost their lives. Our president is unhinged.

Marco Rubio has announced that Europe may yet awaken from its long slumber and rekindle the fire lit here millennia ago. It is a remarkable thing to hear from the representative of a country that has just sailed past 40 trillion dollars in debt and now spends more on interest than on its own military. One wonders what exactly we slept through. While dozing, Europeans somehow arranged to live several years longer than Americans, to see a doctor without remortgaging the house, and to take August off. Six of the seven happiest countries on earth are European, according to this year's World Happiness Report, and the United States is 23rd. So thank you, Mr Secretary, for the wake-up call. If the generational shift you are hoping for means tariffs struck down in court, bond yields at their highest since 2007 and a government that insults its allies for sport, we would rather stay in bed.

Coming soon on my Substack: Humanity’s downward path started 50,000 years ago - Part II Part I used 8 religious myths to show our downhill trajectory started exactly when humanity started. Part II provides arguments based on metaconsciousness & 'significance'.

Why is society getting so screwed up? It’s not (just) neo-liberal economics, inattention to the climate, corporate greed and all the rest. It’s what happened 50,000 years ago! In my latest Substack post, the evidence comes from eight religious myths. alexgoodall.substack.com/p/h…

I don't like the 'doomer' epithet. I fully accept that we're heading for some form of civilisational collapse, but I'm not 'doomy' about it.
The doomers are cowardly neurotics whose abstractions divorce them from practice, and the accelerationists are naive utopians with far more ambition than wisdom, but together they reincarnate the generative tension that has for millennia catalyzed Western memetic adaptation.
