ALT Two maps are shown. One shows that the temperatures will fall below freezing tonight between 6 PM over the northwest, mid to late evening over much of central North Carolina, except after midnight in the southeast. The second map shows that temperatures will rise above freezing Tuesday between 9 AM and noon. Isolated Ice Spots Possible Tonight and Early Tuesday Morning Across Central NC. As temperatures fall below freezing this evening through tonight, areas of rainfall runoff or ponding will refreeze, resulting in isolated icy spots. However, most roads will dry out this evening and be ice-free overnight. Lows tonight will range from around 20 to around 30 degrees. Isolated icy spots may persist through mid-morning across the north. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing between 9 AM and 12 Noon on Tuesday. While the incoming breezy conditions and drier air will help dry out most roads tonight, there is a risk of isolated icy patches on roads tonight into Tuesday morning.

ALT The time for COVID-19 safety is now! Stay up to date on your vaccines. COVID-19 vaccines help keep you from getting very sick, experiencing long-term health consequences, or dying from COVID-19. Stay up to date to be sure you‘re protected from recent COVID-19 variants. Wear a high-quality mask. Any mask is better than nothing, but high-quality masks like KN95s and N95s (also called respirators) offer significantly more protection to you and others compared to cloth masks! Wear the highest quality available to you. Test more than once, 48 hours apart. Taking only one test or taking a second or third test too soon can result in a false negative (saying you don‘t have COVID-19 when you really do). Take at least two tests, at least 48 hours apart from each other. Get treatment ASAP. If you are eligible for COVID-19 treatment like Paxlovid, it must be started within the first 5 days of symptoms in order to be effective! Get tested and treated as soon as you feel symptoms.
